All he got was Canada calling one of their positions a "Fentanyl Czar". The art of the deal!
Oh wait, two countries now would rather buy local than buy American. And both countries don’t consider him an ally anymore, and know he can't be trusted.
And the world watched him talk big and back down last minute, humiliating himself in the process.
What a win!

I don't know if it's true or not, but if it's an entirely made up reason why Energy East was never going to go through, props to him for manufacturing such a story that seemed somewhat plausible.

I'd laugh if Canada didn't actually do any of what little they said they'd do. Like how Trump never fulfills his promises.

And Canadians think he's the one who is going to forget about it in 30 days.

Problem is that it's just not as profitable and streamlined when you're talking about shipping goods half way around the world. Yes, diversifying is a great idea, especially now, but we need the USA and Mexico onboard and in sync in order to flourish.

Trudeau did what he had to do and showed leadership. His speech over the weekend is probably the most impactful result of this trade dispute caused by Trump. Canadians are fully aware of that the US can no longer be trusted and sparked a degree of collectivism that I personally haven’t seen since Vancouver 2010.
Canadians need to do their part and continue to buy local and be self aware of products that come from the US. The true test in all of this is that if the premiers and federal government can finally band together and stop playing regional politics. The time to diversify is now. This was a warning shot by the US that could still have significant consequences. We need to get our act together and pursue better interprovincial investments and more international trade.

Q: Is there anything Trudeau can give you to pause the tariffs?
Trump: “What I would like to see, Canada become our 51st state.”

A couple of handy charts for those looking to support Canadian companies and avoid buying American products.

Bang on, IMO.
One other thing I hope comes from this: Canadians turn down the temperature and vitriol when it comes to remarking upon our own leaders. You can disagree with or dislike them, but at the end of the day they're just people like you and me with tough jobs to do. I know I wouldn't have wanted to be on that phone call today, but am glad someone was and they did their best. Our leaders are not separate and apart from the rest of us, and they're not the only ones responsible for fixing things. We all have a part to play, and it was nice to see so many Canadians recognizing that.

I’ve been on a self imposed “I ain’t traveling to or spending a cent in that #### hole” for 8 years. Feeling pretty justified.
Bought some Mexico coke today for fun. Turns out I already pretty much only purchased Canadian products, shopping today was easy.

He bluffed his way to an extra $200M in commitments and some extra job titles, and all it cost him was the relationship with his country’s greatest trading partner.
Yuge win for the master manipulator.

Not to mention, he convinced thousands of voters that tariffs would have an impact on their day-to-day life.
Lower taxes, cheaper products, more jobs.
and now (for now) he's capitulating over some border stuff.

Personally I think this was a huge win for Trudeau and Canada, Trump wants to use tariffs as a form of sales tax on Americans in order to reduce income tax to a two tier flat tax system, 15 and 30%, his plan was always tariff every single country along with massive cuts to spending in order to make the US a wonderful place to be rich (and little better than a third world hell hole for everyone else)
This was a trial ballon to see if he could get away with it and our strong red state targeted response backed him off, the border crap is just a face saver for the twat
