Didn't take long for Kiermaier to become a fan fave. Obviously very early on, but so far that signing is ........ wowzers.

Solid job by the bullpen too, coming in and shutting things down after Manoah struggled.

awesome game, encouraging to see Kirk and Belt catch fire a little.

KK is such a good fit for this team.

Definitely concerned about Manoah. Not something this team should have to be concerned with but here we are.

I think it was actually a good outing in a round about way for Manoah. He was clearly fighting his command with the walks, got his pitch count up, but still really competed and found a way to get outs when it was needed. He did not let the game get away from him, even when he knew he didn't have his best stuff. Just a good sign for a young pitcher to essentially fight his way through a game.

I wonder if the really quick bottom of the 1st inning threw Manoah off. It was only 5 pitches so he didn’t get a lot of time to sit and relax.

So baseball is pretty ####ing fun eh?

Last year’s team could pound teams into the ground but they also tended to run hot and cold. This year’s team has a lot of ways to beat you. If the power isn’t there, they can still find a way to win. Who needs a home run jacket to have fun?

Just came back from the game, which was a nice one for a season opener to end with bombs. That said, I was more interested in the new outfield zones. Overall, I thought they did a good job. You can get really close to the bullpen which was a highlight as well. I didn't have great seats in the 500 level but walked down to the bullpen and the new areas to check out which was as expected, packed. I do like the bullpen but I have to say something about the colour scheme (blue on artificial green grass), just doesn't feel timeless. In person if feels like a bit of a gimmick, maybe because legit ballparks have a timeless ballpark feel and this feels like a padded blue gym mat feel in the OF. The shape of the wall and the design of the stand up zones overlooking - fantastic. Bars were fairly packed, food slightly overpriced but not totally price gouging on everything, though fairly pricey for a family of four I'd imagine. Logistically they seemed to have little lineups at the food places which was a major plus as every stand was opened and you didn't waste your time lining up for food. All in all a good experience. Can't wait to see what they do with the 100 and 200 level next. I'm certain the foul zones and the dugout are going to be pulled in to get fans closer to the game.

If you were to have told me the Jays would be 4 games back only 11 games in i would have assumed they'd be 4-7 not 7-4.

I'm heading to a few games later this month when I'm in Toronto. So reading your post has me even more excited to check out the new digs. How were the beer prices?

I was getting a bit worried about Manoah at the start given his shaky first outing but it seems like he pulled it together.

Manoah is a FIP xFIP beater.

I don't expect him to post an ERA in the low 2's again but the guy is a work horse and a battler. IMO he'll be a very effective SP but won't be in the convo for CY.

I’m not much of a beer person but did stop by to check out the prices and I believe it was about $12 or so. Yes, high but if you’re having a couple no biggie. It’s generally movie theatre prices on the whole.

Thanks. I arrived just on intro time as I was waiting for my friend to arrive but I wanted to take in my first batting practice. Gates open at 5pm apparently. I’m sure fans rushed to the first come first serve areas, right away. It was very crowded. I posted earlier that I’d never sit on a bleacher but frankly I would in this case as standing up wouldn’t be an option for hours. Even if you get there early enough and score a standing area spot, you’d lose it the second you went to the washroom or get food, and if you’re short like me wouldn’t want to be watching the game on your tippy toes hoping to move back to the front again. So try and eat before hand and get a bleacher spot. Really good decision by the designers to have the bullpen there as it’s totally accessible.
