It could also be argued that Huska has been dealing with the lingering effects of the mess that Sutter created here, and as such, as got off to a slower start.
Darryl no longer belongs in the NHL.

Correct, but moreso because the NHL doesn't *deserve* a coach of Sutter's caliber.
Can't have arguably the best systems coach of all time come in and create an environmental mess that had everything to do with him and not $17.5M worth of primadonna's idling about with their retirement contracts locked up.
Good riddance Sutter. Pft.

Do you have a Sutter radar on, Darryl?

I'm sure there is some of that. Boomer talked last year about a convo he had with Ken King about always being fair in criticism in the past. But all that being said, they've let both Connie and Huska do in studio stuff with them. So While they're probably not thrilled sometimes, they're still being decent to them. Unlike the No Goods.

Or it could be the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Darryl very well could be a Hall of Fame coach whose crusty interactions with players and team staff have worn thin in today's game. Just as Treliving assembled a roster of high-priced talent that isn't capable of taking this team to the next level (or the minimum level of playoff hockey).

Arguably the greatest systems coach of all time? What is so greatest of all time about playing for corsi stats?
Blaming Huberdeau and Kadri for his beahviour? They caused him to become a crusty old man who treated people like trash?
He was unable to adapt to todays players, and to the modern game. Darryl only has himself to blame for getting fired.
Doesn't mean he isn't hall of fame worthy, but he tarnished his legacy a bit with his actions.

Wallie Peanuts has some really weird takes imo. Hates Sutter and then personally attacks people who don't. Loves Huby and then personally attacks people who don't. Very odd imo

Nah, I don't buy it. Also, the top players on this team are just proving him right this year. They don't have what it takes to win as currently constructed.
Zadorov said it best when he said "Daryl is gone, what's the excuse now?" (paraphrasing).

I don't trash anyone personally like you do.
I just pointed out that this same poster trashes people on the team makes fake rumours that he was run out of town by Huberdeau and Kadri when that is pretty far from the truth.
Called him the greatest systems coach in the NHL which is very debatable when all he uses is Corsi stats.

I have tried to tell them in the past. but it's not healthy to try and get other people to hate somebuddy.. A lot of us agree Sutter was not a very good coach last season, but that is not the only reason. Some balance makes a difference than being obsessed with convincing people that Sutter is a bad person.
Lots of people like to look at both sides and the good with the bad, there's no problem with that.

I did say "arguably", so you saying it's "very debatable" is a very welcomed admission on your part.

Was thinking the same thing, like he knows Sutter personally and hates him. Paulie is entitled to his opinion, that's fine but the fact ( not opinion) is that Sutter is a 2x cup winning coach and took the calgary freaking flames to game 7 of the finals, that should count as a cup because of what the flames have done before and after lol.

Literally a year before, he coached 8 players to career years and the flames had their best regular season in over 30 years after the year before of no playoffs with a similar team. But yes, he was unable to adapt

The Sutter hate is weird and feels oddly personal. Even if you thought the game passed him by last year the Flames would have made the playoffs if they had decent to slightly below average goaltending.
It was probably time to move on, but the Sutter hate on this board seems strange.

They had a pretty similar year to the one under Peters with most of the same players having career years.
It was a one line hockey team.
I am not the one who obsesses with him its literally GullFoss and AustinNHL.
Every single thread is about Sutter to them, every post game thread is Sutter.
He has been called out for it numerous times he ruins it every single time.
But GGGGGGGGG Unit right.

Yet one of those teams dominated and won a first round and the other was embarrassed and nearly swept in the first round. The playoffs were definitely not similar.

Sutter wasn't THE problem, he was PART of the problem. The boys on the podcast even say as much. Sure they ask the question "does this bad start absolve Sutter?" But even they know it doesn't.
I really hope the Barn Burner stays around for a while. So far it's one of my favorite sports podcasts.

For me it's not about the on-ice results.
I have low tolerance for people that treat others poorly.
The narrative with Sutter has always been that he was tough in front of the camera, but behind the scenes he was a good guy (for the most part).
That didn't seem to be the case the last couple of years.
I don't think he was fired for on-ice results. The Flames just signed him to an extension that pays the man $3M per year. He has a relationship with Edwards. Do you think Edwards would swallow that if it was only about missing the playoffs?
