I'm seriously wondering if the best solution isn't a three way trade between CGY, BUF and STL.
Calgary sends Tkachuk to St Louis, Buffalo sends Eichel to Calgary, St. Louis and Calgary send futures to Buffalo.
Why couldn't that make sense?

I don't know...if the rumoured ask of Buffalo from Vegas is true (Smith, Krebs, 1st, Hague) then I don't think the ask is actually that unreasonable.
Monahan, Dube, Zary/Pelletier/Coronado, 1st....I feel like the Flames should be comfortable offering that.

I agree. I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Isn't Ullmark a number 1? Why would he come to Calgary to play 10 games as a Darryl Sutter back up goalie?

The math doesn’t work that well to have Eichel come here with the moves they made today.
Somehow lucic has to leave for nothing for it to work if you speculate all of our RFAs and Stone being re-signed.
I think the Dvorak angle is probably also dead.
Big question I have is what are they going to do with monahan. Still feels like a trade is coming. Probably once the free agent frenzy is finished.

It can work if one of Monahan or Tkachuk go

Plenty of ways to make the salary work within the Buffalo trade.
We don't need to reserve $10M to have space for Eichel.

Sucks to not hear about an Eichel acquisition by the Flames, but at least no one else has got him yet. I think the moves today still set up a potential trade. They didn't overspend on the defense, they paid less than what I thought on Coleman. They will definitely have to move one of Mangiapane, Tkachuk or Monahan to make it work though.
I just don't see Buffalo interested in Monahan. So it's either Mangiapane to Buffalo or it's Tkachuk to St. Louis for futures and relayed to Buffalo.
St. Louis is pretty quiet today, did they do anything? They lost out on Landeskog and I don't think Buchnevich is all they had in mind for the Summer.
Also the additions today brought in a lot of truculence, meaning a loss of Tkachuk won't hurt that aspect much.

I think an earlier post mentioned the flames should have about $6-7 million in cap space after signing the RFAs that are left. If the flames are sending a player like Monahan to Buffalo in the trade, I think the money works out, doesn’t it?

Canes shooting down that they had interest in Virtanen. Criticize them for signing an #%^*^%# in DeAngelo, but being an #%^*^%# isn’t illegal. There’s no team that should sign Virtanen with all the stuff he’s being investigated for.

I think if Monahan and Dube go the other way it would be close.
