I really like that trade a lot, upgrades the pen.

Storen is a great reliever and strikes out a lot of guys

maybe give Sanchez a chance to start now, with Storen/Osuna/Cecil that's a really strong group of 3, if Sanchez can't start a very very deep 4

It will be interesting to see where they slot Storen. Osuna looked really good last year but maybe he could be stretched out to a starter.

True, and if Saunders can stay healthy (big if) that's a very crowded outfield. Now they have Pompey/Saunders/Pillar/Bautista

I like Revere, but seems like a decent move.

Don't know much about the pitcher, but I will be sad to see revere go. Good defence and a good lead off man.

#BlueJays acquisition of Drew Storen, as reported by @Ken_Rosenthal, is a good one for Toronto. Jays needed to upgrade their bullpen. (1/2)

Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi
#BlueJays dealing from area of strength, with Pompey and Saunders possibly ready for everyday roles. Toronto can trade a bat for an arm.

#BlueJays leadoff options become Pompey, Saunders, Travis (once healthy) ... or Tulo, who did so 26 times in 2015.

I'd like to see Travis there to start, personally. Never liked Tulo there.

Deal is official. Nats get Revere and player to be named later while Blue Jays gets Storen and cash.

Good trade.

Hopefully this helps get enough depth to send Osuna to AAA so he can get back on a starter track.

Looks like we are likely to see Pompey leading off!

Maybe Pillar could lead off.

Nice to see them add a solid arm the BP.

If I had to bet on who leads off I'd bet on Saunders/Pompey initially and then Travis once he's off the DL. Pillar will hit 8th and the Goin/Barney Platoon 9th (again until Travis is back).

Revere was not an ideal leadoff hitter anyways. Much rather see Travis or Tulo there. They are far more suited for that role.

Great trade. Smart move.

Concur. Travis starts the year on the DL and apparently Tulo doesn't like leading off though so neither will happen initially but I think you eventually see Travis there. Russell would be another option. Not much speed but he gets on base.

If he has a good start to the season, could Pompey lead off?

Absolutely, but he'll need to show he can get on base at a reasonable clip first.

This is good for a couple reasons. Alford is also close as well, and we might have to make additional room for him as well. It might be possible that the outfield to start 2017 consists of Pompey-Pillar-Alford.

Getting Storen allows them to put Osuna in AAA to stretch him out. It would be good to stretch out both Sanchez and Osuna this year and have them start next year. Would help to keep the budget down.

Not a big fan of not starting the season without a guaranteed lead off man when we could have kept Revere and signed someone like Storen in free agency if they weren't so damn cheap. That said, Storen is a great piece to add to the pens.

I know it won't be popular but I would have preferred to trade Pillar while his value was optimal and let Saunders/Pompey fight it out for Center field while keeping Revere to lead off. Not sold on Pillar at all. Great defensively, but I really doubt he can't replicate his offensive numbers from last year.

Rodney must be out of the picture with the acquisition of Storen. Desperately need to add a lefty or two now to complement Cecil and fill out the pen.

Apparently there is a "player to be named later" component to this trade going to Washington to compensate them for the fact that the Jays required the Nats to pay the difference between Storen and Revere's salary. I hope it's no one decent and just a throw in.
