Speaking of the Finns, they finally won beating Germany 4-0.

Yeah. Don't know if they're bad or just starting slow. Teams will suck in the first meaningless games in the tournament. Similarly, some players will put up points and then do nothing when meaningful hockey begins.

Haven't watched much. Saw one Dreisatl shift. Looked raw, skating and stamina looked limited on the big ice. That's my scouting report based on one shift.

Norway upsetting Sweden at the moment.

1-0 Norway half way through the 2nd.

Shots are 19-3 for Sweden.

Sweden wins 2-1. Backlund had two badly timed penalties in the third but Sweden killed them both off, second one was a 4 on 4 for most of it anyways.

Unfortunately since team Finland is once again built largely from players that have already played together and supposedly constructed to play a solid team game, it's hard to not take a terrible start to the tournament as a sign that either building for the team game has failed, or the players really aren't that good.

That said, a team can always get their stuff together later.

Well first game is first game and in the Russia game both Koskinen and the refs sucked.

Koskinen is a big goalie and that's about it from what I saw. Not impressed.

I think that's now a pipe dream as the Oilers official draft guide was released this week and it has Bennett #1 and Draisaitl at #4. I doub't MacT strays from his scouts (Hockey News) rankings.

I didn't watch the game, but the recap noted Backlund had the best 2 scoring chances in the first period. Sounds like the Norwegian goalie was rock solid for most of the game.

I love it.

"Our defense is our problem, ergo we shall draft.....another forward!"

Everything is a problem for them. Defence is the biggest one, followed by center.

I would argue that organizationally, center is the biggest weakness on the Oilers moving forward.

I would suggest President of Hockey Operations is by far their biggest organisational weakness.

Their defensive prospects are quite solid at this point. Far better than any of their forward prospects.
