It fits, and thus it sticks.

I'm still holding out on choice of console. The Kinect 2 could actually be pretty cool to have.

I'm guessing by signing a exclusivity contract with Sony,Saying that they wont develop for another console or device.

yes Sony has been consistent. Consistently disingenuous in it's outrage over various things and far more focused on sound bites than on what is actually wrong with the ideas Microsoft has put forth. Still not sure how Kinnect is so awful when they are clearly moving that way with their own TVs which now have facial recognition so it turns off when you look away, tells kids they are sitting too close, knows when you are there and when you are not etc. In this Sony is really just countering the fact that Microsoft did a far far far better job developing motion sensing hardware and incorporating it into games than they did.

And on the flipside Mircosoft has been far too focused on the ideas with not enough focus on how to get the ideas across.

Really if the new Xbox has a few games that work tremendously well with the new Kinnect system it will drive sales for them because Nintendo completely messed up since pretty much every step of the way since they released the Wii.

A number of Xbox one features are going to be released as Xbox live Gold only features requiring $60/yr

Quote:
Even if the new $499 Xbox One delivers "thousands of dollars of value" this holiday season, you'll need to pay $60 a year to make the most of them. Today, Microsoft confirmed that you'll need a $59.99 Xbox Live Gold subscription to access some of the most highly touted online features of the new game console, including the Game DVR system that automatically records and lets you share video clips of your gameplay achievements, Skype video calling, and the OneGuide TV programming guide that lets you browse and control live TV with a unified interface.

In a blog post published alongside a new Xbox One Day One edition unboxing video on Xbox Wire, Microsoft revealed several new details regarding its upcoming console and accessories as they unboxed the new machine, said to be one of 20 final-spec Xbox Ones in the world so far.
Quote:
Most notably, the Xbox One Day One edition will include an Xbox One Chat Headset, reversing the policy Microsoft announced in June. (Note: IGN has confirmed with Microsoft that the Chat Headset will be included in every Xbox One and not just the limited-edition Day One versions of the console)
Quote:
Penello also notes that the HDMI cable included in the box is a Category 2 HDMI cable, rated for 1080p, 3D and 4K, according to the HDMI 1.4 spec. He also explains that, while the built-in wireless on Xbox 360 just supported single-band A/B/G/N @ 2.4ghz the Xbox One wireless radio is A/B/G/N, but supports dual-band 2.4ghz and 5ghz frequencies.

Wonder what the extra cost would be to add 802.11ac to it.

I like that they're including a 4K HDMI cable. Is Sony throwing one of those in with the PS4?

I would certainly hope so, but the "4K" is mostly useless for me until they get HDMI 2.0 out. Being locked at 24hz is okay for movies but sucks for gaming imo. Probably good enough for a good segment of the market though.

Sony will be including game recording and streaming features outside of PS+. Queue count down for days before Xbone flip flops on their decision given their flip flops on headset, indie support, etc.

Isn't 4K technology still pretty far away in terms of actual content that takes advantage of the higher resolutions?

I thought the PS4 and XBox One don't necessarily have the processing power to actually run 4K gaming at a frame rate that would actually be suitable.

And that the size of things like 4k movies (Over 100GB per movie) is still the biggest bottleneck in this actually being relevant technology.

Do people actually care about this? You can already record and stream gameplay. I don't see the draw of this feature.

Social media sharing and their ilk. Free advertising via "let's play/walkthrough" videos? Not my thing either. Frankly, I'd assume the Netflix and PVR functionality behind a pay wall would be a bigger deal.

As for 4K, I already want to run computer gaming out to that resolution right now. The 24hz issue is all that is stopping me, costs be damned. But that is for a different thread.

I must be misunderstanding... how can you record and stream gameplay currently?

People record and stream through their PCs. If someone wants to record their game and not be connected then there are plenty of other options available to them.

I see. It will be nice to have that baked into a console. Not necessarily used often, but good to have for that one or two times a year something shareable happens.

Another day, another 180? Only thing left is probably for them to reverse their stance on the higher price/required Kinect bundle.

http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/08/0...about-xbox-one

That said, like online, the console will still function if Kinect isn’t plugged in, although you won’t be able to use any feature or experience that explicitly uses the sensor.

LOL, Jesus. Why even let the public know that?

http://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comm...ything/cb1ls3d

The majority of the masses care only about the console, except that the success of the Kinect carries much more weight to us. The (Kinect) sensor costs almost as much as the console to make.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't know what price point the Xbox One would be at without the Kinect, but it would be much less than 399.
I see it not as a market that no longer exists, but one that haven't been explored due to technological limitations.

This is getting pretty intense. I don't think I've ever seen so many steps taken away from an initial vision. I totally agree that a company should be constantly listening to their customers, but at some point you also have to believe in what you're doing.
