Tough to describe the taste. It's been a long time since I even had venison since my Dad deems them to be too easy now, but it's similar to deer, but more gamey.
Like I said it's pretty much the only red meat I eat so it's hard to compare.

DO you think that people wont figure out a way to "jailbreak" the band? I mean we live in a world where people break the rules for everything electronic.

How does any of this make sense?

Because politicians are idiots.

So banning high round clips stops these things, but banning the entire tool would be ineffective?
So in this case, the guy stabbed 5 people. If he had your super-safe, stunted-round gun he would have been able to kill 10. Which I guess is better than the 50 or so he could have killed if not for your obviously incredibly effective banning of high-cap clips.
Do you need 10 bullets to hit the deer?

Never bow hunted but I'm starting to get the itch. I'd be scared that I'd lose the animal from clean shot.

Yup, people might be able to figure it out. Another great reason for not including them.
"Ahhh they'll just break into it somehow anyways, what's the point?"
We should just stop all technological innovation right now, because, you know, jailbreak!

Not me, but one my hunting rifles takes AR mags and it's nice to carry an extra mag instead of a couple boxes of ammo.
I get nervous hunting, I am scared that I'm going to get lost and be stuck out in the wild for a few days so I like to come prepared.. I bring a first aid kit, Small blanket, water, high calorie food, lighter, string, venom kit, dry socks and windbreaker pants and shirt. I carry a big bag when I go but that's because I'm terrified that I'd be stuck out there.
If I can have a 10 round mag and Carry two extras and I happen to be lost for a little while I'd be able to feed myself, fend off animals (we have bears here and wild hogs that are mean)
That's why I carry 10 round mags.
I also carry my pistol with two mags of ammo just in case. damn snakes

I'm not saying they're a good or bad Idea, I'm just saying that people will "jailbreak" them so the band is useless.

This sounds completely reasonable
Quote:
the problem is that the only people that is going to go through that are the law abiding citizens and i'd be willing to bet that the majority of the gun deaths are inner city gang related stuff with illegal weapons.

Around 65% of gun deaths in the states are suicides. Not sure it'll go down too much, but less guns sold still means less on the streets. Maybe not in years 1-5, but there's good reason to believe that it would decrease after that. A grocery/gas station/Convenience store robbery with a knife is infinitely safer with a knife than a gun
Quote:
the problem lies in the anti gun folks and the hardcore right pro gun people that want it "my way or the highway" crap. This goes for pretty much everything else down here too.

Nothing much changes without compromise. It's the biggest downfall in current North American politics.
Quote:
here is a list of things I'd like:
1. a federal gun license, if you have this license you can go to all 50 states without checking reciprocating laws.
2. Federal Gun Laws that are the same in every state.
|
No way states give up those rights, and due to the political climate and idiocy, the trust in the federal government would likely push this to civil war
Quote:
3. Private sale background checks that are free. Where you can call the sheriff or Police and have them run the background of the buyer free
|
Great idea, but logistics and privacy may make it a bit difficult. Perhaps the buyer must get it themselves and present a certificate no older than 7 days?
Quote:
4. Stricter penalties on those who do straw sales/and or sell to those who can't own a weapon.
|
If you are liable for a death due to drunk driving because you overserved the driver, couldn't there be something similar done here? Jail time at minimum.
Quote:
5. I'd be okay with Finger prints and mental evaluations every year or two. This wont help much but it may stop the idiots like this kid
|
Finger prints yes, but the mental evaluations would be cumbersome. I doubt this guy shows overt violent tendencies to a psychiatrist responsible for allowing his gun ownership. Add to that the likely cost of an evaluation ($2-300??) and I don't see it making sense
Quote:
6. Under no circumstances do I want to see a gun registry. Every country that has ever done that has led to confiscation. I don't care what anyone says, it will lead to it and I will never back anything that intends to register a gun.
|
The whole point of a registry is to confiscate when foul play is suspected. Cars are registered, why don't they confiscate those? Sorry, but it sounds like you've been fed too much conspiracy stuff.
[/QUOTE]
7. strict penalties (stupid strict) for those who use guns in a crime. You'd be surprised how many idiots have gun crimes that are let out after a few months.
Quote:
8. mandatory penalties for those who are arrested with both illegal narcotics and guns
9. Mandatory penalties for those who use a gun in a crime
|
I'd have to look this up, but I am to remember a paper discussing this exact thing. Maybe it was from freakonomics or something. Regardless, I don't see this doing anything positive.
Quote:
I'd love to see the pro gun lobby be more proactive in supplying or help supply safe's, and proper storage. At U of Alabama students who hunt can bring their shotgun or hunting rifle to the UAPD to store them safely until they're needed to hunt. I love that idea since many students hunt, this gives them a safe place to store the weapon when they're not using them.
sad fact of the matter is that majority of these mass shootings only make the news because they happen in areas that aren't the ghetto and no one cares about the ghetto.
If this shooting happened in compton or 8Mile road in Detroit no one would care

I'm with you up until here. Why on earth no registry? I have to register my vehicle in order to operate it legally. Why should a gun be any different?
You may not care what anyone else says, but a registry of who owns a weapon, with the ability to routinely scan to see if they've been involved in any altercations--drug offenses, domestic disputes, etc--might help keep people a little more honest when it comes to their firearms. If you see that someone who owns a weapon has been involved in multiple domestic disputes, you might realize there's a problem before someone ends up dead.

We have the same threat of being lost in the wilderness up here in Canada. A rifle with sufficient ammo and a backpack with similar things was always enough for us. Yes we have bears and cougars and wolves etc. Generally they don't wage a full scale war against you.

Or you could just simply be on a short nature hike in nose hill park and be accosted by thugs questioning you about Stampede.
A couple of AR's with a couple of huge capacity mags would make you feel safer in those circumstances.

That's not what I meant, Of course a weapons serial number should be ran in the even of a purchase to see if it's been used in a crime or stolen but I'm not for say I buy a gun and the feds or state have a list of which ones I own. I know it's not reasonable to think that when you purchase a gun through the proper channels that they don't "store" that information.

LOL I know but you never know about wild animals and I'd rather have the chance to eliminate the threat if it had to come to that.
(not like the dumbass that shot the moose with a pistol on a snowmachine)

While I completely disagree with almost everything you're saying PIMking, it is kind of interesting just watching the odd backwards (at least backwards to most people outside the US) ways you go about justifying your stance on guns.
At least I'm learning something.

Well the good news is that we all can think differently and we can have a conversation on why we think a certain way.
