Sam St. Laurent. I think he was the last guy to use that style of mask.

The last goalie to play in the NHL without a mask the one and only Andy Brown.

Yes your answer as usual in this game is correct.... LOL... I am not even sure you even try anymore ... way too good. What I thought was amazing about that photo was it was kind of the start of Vaughn Equipment at that point which would put it like late 80's and the old Fibreglass Mask.

the photo's an interesting bridge of eras, what with the full mask and Canadien stick, along with the Vaughn pads and the board ads.

...and Andy Brown is correct.

Here's an obscurity for you:

Is this the same Gary Edwards who played in 1968-69 and then again 1981-82?

^ not Gary Edwards. The Hockey News recently called this guy the Moonlight Graham of the NHL.

^ well, oops on me here: the photo I used was mislabeled. You're right, the photo was Don Saley, but my source labeled it as Robbie Irons, who I intended to post.

here's Robbie's claim to fame:

Quote:
He played in three minutes and one second of one game in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues during the 1968–69 season. This occurred only because the Blues' starting goaltender, Glenn Hall, was ejected from a game before his replacement, Jacques Plante, was prepared to enter. Irons tended the net until Plante was able to take over.[1]
Irons shares with Christian Soucy the NHL record for the fewest career minutes by a goaltender.[2]

Interesting tidbit while I was investigating Don Caley was part of the trade with the NY Rangers for Robbie Irons. I had thought about guessing Robbie Irons but the faces didn't match so I just finally gave up.

Our first controversy in the Guess the Goalie Game. I didn't want to challenge you because well 100% of the time you have been right, but also we've kind of become good friends just from this darn game. LOL. This game is way too much fun and addictive.

...lost in all the hoopla, but the game continues.

This goalie made a certain mark on history on this date:
