Isnt everything about the iPhone personal preference? Silly comment.
Light years in terms of cell phones is literally a year or two...just 2 years ago BlackBerry still was top of the heap.

Glad ios caught up to auto updates.

and fine...call it what you want...I can add more "storage" to my droid if I so choose, I am not stuck with the built in options Apple chooses for me.

I can also add in that NOT having to use iTunes to manage my library is far superior to Apple.

iOS now has auto updating for apps.

Well, this isn't really a benefit of Android, because it has nothing to do with the operating system, and not all phones offer it. I could be splitting hairs here though.

And personally I'd rather have the better build quality of the HTC One than the expandibility of the S4.

And technically you add storage, not memory.

Agree with the former, but Blackberry has been declining long, long before 2 years. They've been down to the dead man stage walking for 2+ years alone.

Just semantics though.

This is actually an interesting topic, seeing which mobile OS has features and which doesn't but you've shown time and time again you can't join in without turning into a bit of a child if someone doesn't agree with exactly the way you think. Your act is beyond tiresome now. Two posters gave you a long detailed list of things and you just brush them off and call them fluff? Larf. Grow up man.

Anyways, let us know when Apple adds them so you'll no longer consider them fluff.
At this point I'm pretty sure he's just trolling you. Even the most ardent Apple supporters I know IRL aren't half as bad as him

Yes, I'm sure it feels good . But really, iPhone users are getting new to us features and loving them. It's kinda irrelevant whether Android had them or not. I assume you're happy your ipad has these features now?

Ah yes. The enlightened MMF speaks. You know what's tired? You hiding behind 'impartialness' every time someone accuses you of taking a side. And if you want to know why I didn't respond to your post in length, that's the reason.

Okay then.

Now that that's off your chest maybe you can actually address the post without the dramatics.

My response to your post?

Widgets are lame. I used an Android for several weeks and never took advantage of them.

Do a better job describing Zedge than saying it has wallpapers and ringtones. You embarrassed yourself highlighting that.

Multiuser support? Lol. Neato.

Notifications? They're a list of things that happened on your phone since yo looked at it last. How robust.

Filing system. It's a mobile OS, I'm fine with app based organization. Much flatter, easier.

Default apps. Never been an issue for me. The share button gives me options I need.

And then I got to the end of your post, where you said Android is 'years ahead'. Actually laughed to myself when I read that.

I'm actually glad you made this post. It takes away your chance to say you're unbiased from now on. You aren't describing better aspects of Android, you're describing preferences.
You love your Android phone, it's cool, just give it up on the "I don't choose sides" part.

I was gonna write a post about how I couldn't understand how someone could have such fierce loyalty to a brand, but then it hit me. It's like a religion. You can't argue with someone who's deeply religious because their faith is so strong that it blinds them to any other alternatives, and it's the same thing here. Reading your posts on anything to do with Apple reminds me so much of anytime Calgaryborn got into a thread about religion. It was him against the majority and no matter what points were brought up he refused to give an inch because his faith was unshakable

I think my point is further proven by the video that Mike F posted, where people couldn't even really say why they were waiting in line so long for a phone but they just had to be there. Course that seems more like a cult then a religion, but that's just splitting hairs really

Surprisingly enough I could give you an equally long list of technical reasons the iPhone kills any android device that exists, but it's met with subjective rebuttals that leave us right back where we started. So you go ahead and think apple is a religion, I'll continue assuming android users have bad taste of quality and nothing better to do than change widget layouts, and we'll all save wasted efforts. But for your own sakes, enough with the "Apple is doomed because they don't innovate." It's discredits any other point you want to make.

I would be interested in such a list. I haven't had an iPhone since my 3Gs, so my opinion might be a little dated.

Actually this is a HUGE difference. For example with schools; there are all sorts of issues with letting kids use iPads with only one account. However with Chromebooks and now Android tablets having multi-user support; it gives them a decided edge. And that is where Apple is starting to get killed; with customers who buy hundreds or thousands of devices.

Actually no- give a well thought out reply is what this forum is about. If you are unable to do that in this thread, please stay out so that people who want to discuss the pros and cons of both systems can do so in an intelligent manor.

And that goes for Android supporters as well; let's keep things at a higher level in here.

You wanted a list of differentiating features, we gave you that list. You haven't provided one yet as a counter argument or do much other than name calling. Who is being subjective here outright dismissing features others use?

If notifications are so meh and useless in general, why do you think Apple saw fit to implement it? It's a game of catch up from customer pressure meaning its not as useless as you think.

"lol" "neato" "embarrassed yourself" etc etc... these are the responses of a child. Try to grow up a little here.

Anyways, because I'm an idiot, I'll reply regardless. These are features of the Android operating system. You can prefer to use them if you wish which also make them preferences as a user but they are features of the OS. I don't know how you can say they aren't. These are features the user interacts with on the operating system. These are features that Android has that even if iPhone users wanted to prefer not to use, they couldn't.

And really, that's what it all boils down to, options. My phone lets me customize it the way I want to. And we're not even talking about rooting etc and all that crap, we're talking on a basic level. The way you brush off these features is so childish.

You're really just ignorant of what Android has to offer, plain and simple. A rich notification system is something I couldn't do without if I moved to a different mobile OS at this point. Being able to have active notifications is honestly a killer feature of Android and something that once users learn about and understand is brilliant. In this thread (and others) the negatives posts about Apple tend to be about iOS and how stale and boring it's become so it shouldn't surprise you when that's what we're actually talking about and that's where the replies to you came from.

Now if you want to get into technical reasons the iPhone kills any Android device out there, by all means, go ahead. As a mobile tech junkie I would love to hear those, always wondering what my next device will be. Just be sure to be consistent and do the same days after the launch of the biggest flag ship phones from LG, HTC, Samsung, Sony, etc etc.

I have absolutely 0 complaints about my iPhone (4) itself. But I hate iTunes more than I thought it was possible to hate a piece of software. I won't go apple again for that reason alone. Between that, expandable storage, swype texting (which I quite enjoy), and exactly 0 complaints from anybody I personally know who uses one (some of who have used both) and I'm sold.

I remember a time when I had all my music organized into folders the way I liked it and iTunes automatically rearranged all of my music into different folders all on it's own without asking me first.

If it had done a decent job of organizing and asked before making decisions for me it wouldn't have been a problem, but crashing on me part way through the process cuz it couldn't read some of my foreign music titles, shoving all of the uncategorized music into a single fricking folder and on top of that shoving all of the files with missing ID3 tags into a single folder pissed me off to no end. I had to wade through 25k files and try to individually listen to each track to sort out the mess and relabel them manually. Never ever again.
