yeah, it's true (http://www.portlandtribune.com/sport...43012834602900). Plus they get Keegan Iverson, a center that just turned 16 and is already 6-1 and 205 ... he was phenomenal in high school. You gotta hand it to Portland - they'll lose some high-end talent this summer (Bärtschi, Morrow, Noebels, Ross, Wrenn and Rutkowski can all turn pro), but with Jones, Iverson and the likes of De Leo, they'll still be successful.

The 5-11, 185-pound Bartschi was relatively quiet the first two periods as Portland fell behind 3-1.

“I felt like I didn’t have that much energy the first two periods,” Bartschi said as he ate a postgame meal before the Hawks’ late-night flight to Edmonton. “I wasn’t playing like I wanted to play.

“I regrouped during the second intermission. It was like, ‘You gotta pick it up. We want to win this game.’ "

“Sven’s game went to another level, not only with the puck and challenging them offensively, but his backcheck was great,” Portland coach Mike Johnston said. “He was coming from behind and stripping pucks, catching guys from behind.

“His energy was incredible out there. It’s funny how at different points in a game, the energy flows both ways. Sven was the one player on the ice who really picked up the tempo of the game.”

“I was skating like crazy,” Bartschi said. “I had one or two good chances right away. As soon as I put the first one in, I was like, ‘We’re not going to give up this game.’

“I felt really confident that we would win. I know the whole team felt like that. We’ve done it the whole season. Even though (an opponent) was ahead by two goals, we always came back and won in the end.”

A year ago, Portland sent top-five draft picks Ryan Johansen and Nino Niederreiter to the NHL. Johansen had a reasonably successful rookie year with the Columbus Blue Jackets; Niederreiter did not with the New York Islanders.

“I didn’t think Niederreiter was ready to go pro,” Johnston said. “They turned him pro a little bit too soon. Bartschi’s ready to go pro. I know that. You can tell by the way he plays, by the confidence.

“He was a big-game player tonight. He took over the game all by himself at times. He is ready to be a top-two line guy in the NHL, for sure.”

I think this series has really shown the drastic difference in talent levels between Rattie and Sven.

I hope to God, Buddah, Ganesh, Allah, Zombie Baby Jesus and my grannies famous flapjacks that we will all be in awe of Baertchis svensational career in Calgary.

It fuuny that reading opinions else where you would think that it was Rattie that had been inflating Svens stats and he wouldn't have had half the season he has without Rattie

I think that's a bit of a stretch, Rattie still has the most goals (18) and points (32 like Sven) of all WHL players in these playoffs. He was phenomenal in the Kelowna series and still very good against Kamloops and Tri-City. He "only" disappeared against Edmonton now ... but that shows the difference between him and Sven: exceptional players find an extra gear when it matters most.

It seems 2004 was be the last year the Memorial Cup was played without a Flames prospect participating (although current Heat goalie Danny Taylor did play that year).

It's a good thing, though with 80 some players involved (not all drafted) it's not too surprising.

Also, Rattie took that brutal hit into the boards in Game 1 and didn't even play in Game 2, so I'm sure he wasn't playing at 100% in Games 3 and 4.
