As much as i like Sven, it's just sad that on most nights i have to come to this thread to be happy about the flames.

I think Bartschi is the only thing keeping me sane right now.

In any case as to what happens to the Flames, I hope I'm able to watch Sven go deep in the playoffs with Portland.

I feel the same way. Feels good having a young skilled forward like him in our system.

Unfortunately that isn't saying much.

With that being said, I have really high hopes for Sven and cannot wait to see him make an impact on the big club. Here's hoping that can occur next season, I have a feeling we're going to need something to cheer about...

Listening to a Winterhawks game, I think Baertschi's name is called every ten seconds, he's all over the ice tonight. Posted in the prospects thread, but here's a link to the radio broadcast if anyone else wants to listen: http://community.winterhawks.pdx.net...mini/1_ad.html

I love the announcer. He's got some sweet twang to his voice.

6 more points until he reaches 100. You can do it Sven!

Please god let us nail our first rounder this year so Sven can have a sidekick.

Is there really over 10000 people at the Portland Arena tonight?

They've got Phoenix beat.

Edit: The Americans score the go ahead goal with 51 seconds left in the game. Looks like karma only works against me and never for me. My apologies, Phoenix.

And the Americans win.

A good pick this year and draft Mackinnon in 2013 and we are set!

I actually liked the duo of Backlund-Beartschi in training camp this year. Seemed to have some immediate chemsitry.

Hopefully they can build on that next year.

The hockey gods realized Flames fans were cheering and decided to disappoint us yet again.

Thats what Ive been thinking. They looked good in camp last year. That allows them to start on the third line, which is prob where Backlund is going to center. With Bartschi on his wing he still gets someone with offensive creativity instead of checkers. In my scenario Bartschi would also get some power play time and spot duty on the second line where play or injuries require.

Every easy and works great.

No way the Flames are crappy enough next season to get McKinnon. One can only hope though.

They've sold out several games in the Rose Garden this year already. Just the lower bowl, but still a big arena. According to a tweet from the team yesterday, that game put them at over 200,000 for home games this season. They're actually getting media coverage, and for the first time in forever I don't get a blank look from people when I mention them. I think the shortened NBA season had a lot to do with it this year, but still nice.
