Just wondering if anyone has any input regarding tickets for shows and when to get them. I'm heading down In just over a week. I've heard different things from different folks. Some say buy them before you go down, others say wait till you are there and it will be cheaper.
Also any input on "if you only see one show" what would you reccomend?

The half price booths are the best deal. Shows and seating are limited though.
Otherwise the best bet is to buy via internet deals here.

If you want to see one specific show just go ahead pre buy the ticktes online. If you are not picky, go to a Tix 4 Tonight booth and just pick one, they sell discounted tickets for that night only and you never know what ones they will have but, most of the more popular shows are not available, and a lot of the same shows are on the list everyday

Depending on what you like for crude comedy I would suggest Absinthe, for mild comedy Terry Fator, for nice entertainment, Mystere, or Jersey Boys. I've been told La Reve is great but I havent seen it yet (though I've been to O and was disappointed in it and they are similar). It all depends what your into or want to see. I really enjoyed Blue Man and Carrot Top, the wife on the other hand....
It is also worth popping by a Tix 4 Tonight to see what they have for restraunt deals to, though on the web site it looks mostly like 25% off deals, you use to be able to get buy one get ones for the Rio buffet.

Grab one of those Vegas deal books. Found out late that the one I went to had a buy 1 ticket get second for $10 deal. I paid full for both.

My wife and I were thinking Las Vegas as she's a teacher and its a cost effective place that's warm that we'd want to see.
For her she wants somewhere warm, sit by a pool, and relax.
For me I want to explore and see the sights.
We both want to see some shows, we're thinking a Cirque show, a comedy show and maybe doing one of those tours to see the major clubs (we aren't club people anymore but when in Rome).
I love to people watch and explore people traps.
As for getting hammered and gambling, not so much.
Essentially when we say Las Vegas, we mean the Strip.
Las Vegas isn't our number one destination, but travelling in March with only a few days to explore, it's the top choice.

Just an FYI, it won't be super warm in March and many of the pools don't open until April or May.

Yeah, I checked what the weather would be like. About 20* or so, which from -10* we're happy with that.
Also I didn check when hotels project to open their pools and it seems like most are saying March.

I like the Hard Rock the best... the rooms are nice, service is great, the casino is just big enough, they have a shuttle to the strip for n/c, decent restaurants.
I booked 4 days in Oct and paid $ for flights (WJ) and hotel...and they upgraded me to a suite.

Just got back from Vegas myself. The lady and I went for three days.
Shows we saw:
Penn & Teller at the Rio - Awesome show, definitely worth it.
Cirque du Soleil - Mystere - Also very good. Pretty amazing, the stuff they do on stage.

I've only ever done 4 days, 3 nights with the guys (which ends up almost being too much with how we drink & party).... thinking about planning a trip with the lady friend is 3 days, 2 nights not long enough?
Also what about hotels, I've stayed at The Flamingo and PH both which were decent but was thinking about maybe trying MGM Grand, Treasure Island, Paris, Mirage or Cesars Palace for slightly more money and something different.

MGM has an awesome pool. Rooms are average. Pretty easy to get lost in it too.
It's also home to Hakkasan and Wet Republic so if you do decide to party with her, those are pretty much the two best clubs in Vegas.

The first time my wife and I went, we were there for 3 nights, and felt it was too short. The next time we were there for 4 nights and that was about right. Could have done more, but didn't feel like we had to get back right away because we missed stuff.
The other two times we went I was at a conference and we stayed 7 nights both times. If it weren't for the conference, 7 nights would have been way too long. The first conference my wife was there the entire time and she was getting bored. The second conference my wife joined me for the last two nights. She felt that she could have used one more night.
I love MGM Grand, I'd recommend that place, but based on what I've heard, you can't go wrong with the other places.

I'm probably late to the party with my advice, but I always buy when I'm actually in Vegas. Big savings. My wife's parents went and her aunt bought tickets ahead of time for everybody to go see a show, and she would have saved a tonne of money buy going to Tix 4 Tonight. If you're there midweek you don't have to worry as much about the show being sold out, depending on what you see, I suppose.
I saw Mystere and we bought tickets the day of the show, from a booth setup right in the front of TI. Another time we saw Ka. We went to Tix for Tonight but they didn't have tickets for Ka on the nights we wanted to see it, but lucked out when we walked into MGM Grand and somebody was just inside the door handing out coupons for stuff on MGM Grand's property. We ate two for one at Rain Forest, then got 2 for 1 tickets at Ka that night.
For everything else we have gone through tix for tonight. Even scored Shark Reef admission at Tix for Tonight on our first trip.

Just my opinion, but I thought Hakkasan was super lame when I went there. Generic, overcrowded dance floor that you could barely distinguish from any other club.

Thanks for the replies.... Not really too concerned about clubs (not our thing) or pools (planning a winter trip so doubt they'd be open).
Just want a nice, clean room and decent food options and centrally located.

Was at Luxor one time in March (Spring Break) and the pool was open, but it can still be chilly then and a bit early to lounge around the pool.

Ceasers Palace would be my choice then if the price isn't an issue.
Haven't stayed there so I can't comment on the rooms but it's central and has some of the best food options and the mall.

I should add that I'm not really a club guy, but I can have fun at the right clubs (i.e. Razzmatazz in Barcelona). Hakkasan just didn't really stand out for me in any way.
