Yeah, I basically watch them all because I love the theater experience. Grew up going to every movie and it's just such a great place to chill and turn off my brain. I love the whole experience and I think it's such killer value. I know people complain about how expensive movies are and I get it, but to pay $15 or whatever to watch something that took $10 million+ to make seems awesome to me.
I don't go to Marvel movies anymore, though. I have drawn the line there. They're all the same and terrible. I generally enjoy the experience of getting out to a movie even if the movie sucks, though, but once in a while I have to bail if they're just too bad. I think I've only walked out of two terrible movies in the past few years. Everything All at Once or whatever that POS was...stayed for 90% of it, had to go to the bathroom and just didn't bother going back in as I was in such hell trying to get through that garbage. Played on my phone until it was done and my wife came out. And then King Kong/Godzilla.
Would love if there were more good movies, but once I've seen all the good ones I'm sort of stuck picking whatever crap is left if I want to hit the theater.
I realize it seems stupid.

Okay, dare I ask, what is an example of a really good movie that you watched in the last few months? In the last year?

American Fiction was definitely the best in the past year and maybe the best in the past couple for me. I give it an enthusiastic 10/10, and I never rate anything so high. Usually find tons to hate...I'm just wired that way, although you probably wouldn't guess that based on the positivity in most of my posts.
It was exceptional and if you haven't seen it you really should. I loved every second of it.

10/10, seems a bit high.
I enjoyed it but at times it felt forced.
My boy loved it, I gave it a 8/10

I've said it before, but American Fiction was awesome. I too loved all of it. All of the actors did exceptional jobs.

Do you do subtitle movies? I'd like to hear your thoughts on Godzilla Minus One. It's easily the best Godzilla movie and probably my favourite "big monster" movie.

Subtitles are dumb, unless for a short snippet of the movie.
I don't want to go to a subtitled movie, instead I'll read a book.

Yep, for sure. Happy to watch subtitled movies.
Dude my thoughts on movies are never interesting, though. It usually boils down to 'that was good,' 'that wasn't bad', 'that was okay', or 'that sucked'. I lose all ability to articulate my thoughts when trying to describe what I think of a movie.
It's weird because I have an English degree, so I spent four years writing non-stop essays and stuff on literature, so you'd think I'd have a skill set that could help me come up with something worth reading about movies. I don't, though.
I did hear that movie was awesome and it's good to know you thought so as well. I'll add it to the list.

OMG, was that you who leveled the misogyny charge against me a week or so ago? That's wild. You actually meant it, eh? Weird. If you go through this thread you'll see me hate on a ton of movies. A female lead is irrelevant.
Some movies I enjoyed that were really good with a female lead: - Kill Bill
- Wonder Woman
- Hunger Games Trilogy (books were better, of course)
- Run Lola Run
- Legally Blonde
- Rogue One
- Where the Crawdads Sing
- Silence of the Lambs
- Misery
- Fargo
- Mean Girls
- I, Tonya
- V for Vendetta
- Juno
- Megan
I mean, I could go on forever. And that doesn't even touch on the bazillion movies that have equal play for a lead male/female situation.
Like, dude, this is a really weird accusation to throw out there...twice even. haha, just so strange.

Mean Girls is on the list. Love that movie, too.
Oh and another one I absolutely love is Princess Switch. I can't believe I forgot it. Love that movie. AND 13 Going on 30 - awesome as well. Seen it a million times.
I hate all the Mad Maxes. They're stupid AF and make no fkn sense. Just seems like a bunch of drama geeks dressed in dirty clothes and acting cRaZy and HaRdCoRe. Terrible movies. Terrible plots.

And another recent one: Totally Killer on Netflix. Kiernan Shipka was outstanding in it. That's a top-notch movie. One of the most fun movies of 2023.
