Some of the headlines. This is just in the past 24 hours alone.
So...a few notable mainstream media outlets has been parroting Kremlin propaganda since the start of the war, but none have been as blatant as Reuters.
Does some media not care about journalistic integrity or it is simply about getting clicks? If someone said it and it's being reported on, that makes it ok even if it's a complete lie? Feels like absolutely shoddy and lazy journalism.
There is nothing wrong with what Reuters is doing here. They're reporting what Russia says not as fact, but as what Russia says.
Western democracies' responses to Russia are partially determined by their citizens, through voting and communication with their representatives. Should those citizens not be informed about Russian positions?
It's not shoddy, nor lazy. This is what unbiased news looks like. Straight facts (Person X said "Y" is a fact, even if "Y" is false), no censorship for political goals. Not even political goals we support.
Furthermore, Reuters is a newswire. One of their key roles is to break news to other journalists. Should they be kept in the dark too?
Is reporting straight statements truly unbiased if said statements are total fabrications?
In most normal cases, Reuters with such a stance makes for solid journalism as it's as unbiased as it gets, as you stated. When it comes to the craziness that is Russia right now however, they merely become mouthpieces for promoting Kremlin propaganda as the statements are being reported for face value.
There is a point, where you need to step in and start managing, otherwise their 'report all news' is just being used as a propaganda tool.
I've started a gofundme for them to raise money for a used vehicle/insurance (which is expensive with no Canadian driving history). It can be found here:
I feel bad that it took this long, but it was quite a process - they needed a Canadian bank account, and gofundme has an elevated approval process for fundraisers using the word Ukraine in them right now for obvious reasons.
I do want to speak to that as well. I recognize that gofundme has been controversial on CP and that there have been issues in the past. If the mods won't allow this I will absolutely take it down with my apologies. That said, I really do believe this is an excellent cause. These are wonderful, kind, generous people who are starting over late in life through no fault of their own, and could use a hand up. I'm not personally benefiting in any way, shape, or form, and to be honest had to be encouraged to share this with you all as I'm uncomfortable asking the community for things. I've had literally thousands of posts over the last 14 years I've been on CP and don't believe I've ever asked the community for anything, but I would appreciate any support you could give for this. Whether monetarily, sharing the link, anything is appreciated!
Good on you for setting that up for them. I set up a GoFundMe for my UA in-laws too, but with everything going on with CP and GoFundMe's recently, I didn't feel comfortable posting it here (can always reach out to me if anybody is interested). Luckily my own extended family is pretty huge and has been incredibly generous so I wish nothing but the best for Viktor and Inna. Many of us feel helpless being so far away from the war, but things like this can make a diffence to those that are here.
I hope the link in your post is allowed to remain up.

I read every article you posted and they seem objective. I'm pretty anti-Russian in this conflict and I see nothing wrong with those articles. Russia is still allowed to make statements and news organizations can report those statements. I think you're reading more into this than there is.
I don't know if it has been mentioned, but Russia says they have arrested 8 people in connection to the Crimea bridge explosion. They said they arrested 5 Russians, 2 Ukrainians, and 1 Armenian with the sabotage. They still blame Ukrainian intelligence for planning the attack, but I found it interesting that they admit that 5 of the suspects are Russian as well as an Armenian, who on paper are supposed to be allied with Russia, although most people recognize that the Russian-Armenian alliance is tedious at best.
Kind of OT, but in pre-invasion thread, I posted a couple of videos by Peter Zeihan, a freelance analyst who used to work for the US feds and the WaPo. He gained a little bit of attention from being able to predict the full invasion of Ukraine. He wrote a book after the Crimean annexation and by using demographic and economic data from Russia, he said that Russia's window to invade Ukraine was closing and it would have to make the decision in 8 years whether to go ahead with it. He released a video at the start of the Ukrainian counter offensives and predicted at what point Ukraine would take out the bridge. I guess the thing that freaks me out is that he also predicted at the start of the conflict, that it would cause fertilizer shortages globally and that 100 million would face famine from it. Looking at the recent UN comments, it appears that the fertilizer shortage is becoming more and more of a concern.
I won't bother posting the videos because honestly, most of them recycle the same material and it is obvious he wants to sell books more than anything. They are easy enough to look up on Youtube if anyone really wants. I can't deny that he has been really accurate so far though. For what it is worth, he is also pretty convinced that Ukraine has crossed the threshold where their eventual victory is very likely at this point.

Canada donating 500 thousand winter military jackets. Honestly I think that might have a huge psychological effect on the russians. The envy will be real

I saw we are sending over 40 more combat engineers to train Ukrainians in Poland, particularly on artillery, reconnaissance, explosives, mining and de-mining. The training program is re-starting after being on pause since February.

Will it be the green ones they sent our guys in the desert ?
Nothing like standing out against a snowy background...
It’s too bad we couldn’t get Putin and Zelenskyy to conduct peace talks directly over video conference, and live for the world to see. Zelenskyy would absolutely murder him with words.
I’d like to see him bring up the non-invasion guarantee in exchange for Ukraine’s nukes.

A Russian armoured vehicle inexplicably drove over clear visible land mines. I am guess it was either an attempted suicide or an untrained conscript, because I doubt anyone could just be that stupid.
