^^I draw that conclusion from the conversation he had in the kitchen with Maggie after arguing with Rick about leaving and the previews.
He's her step father and there were problems before but he's changed. Then he takes out the flask, disappears, they look for him and find him at what looks like a bar drinking...
I certainly could be wrong, previews can be very misleading.
I think it's quite plausible that Dale could figure it out, he did see Shane point his shotgun at Rick for an extended period of time in Season 1. And sometimes you just know when someone is lying, you just get a feeling. Not to mention he didn't deny it when he confronted him in the swamp.

Also keep in mind this group of people has been living together for quite a long time now, and Shane is becoming more and more crazy. People will notice.
Between him pointing his gun at Rick and going off the deep end I don't think it would be a stretch for the others to have doubts about Shane.
Also when Dale tells Laurie about him believing that Shane shot Otis you know she is going to think that as well, based on her past problems with him. I still think there is some background from Shane that we are going to see down the road, some incident before the zombies that shows he's always been a problem.

Yeah. It seems more than likely that Dale just had a hunch. And then after the confrontation at the swamp, his hunch was confirmed

Ya I could see that, something about him being a crooked cop that Rick didn't know about. He always talks about being made for this world, eluding to the fact that he does have some kind of prior experience in a survival situation or survival of the fittest.

Fantastic episode – with the large amount of tension and plot build up leading up to the final scene of that episode I was expecting big things to happen, and needless to say they delivered. I know I’m watching something good when my jaw drops and bring my hand to my face and say aloud “Of course!” which is exactly what happened in the moments before zombie Sophia emerged from the bar. I agree with those on here thinking that Rick finishing her off is a symbol of his transition and new attitude towards life in post-apocalyptic zombie world. I’m becoming of a big fan of Shane’s character, he’s such a loose cannon at this point in the series, any moment he might just do or say something crazy.
I thought it was a good episode with a riveting ending. Still think the emotional angle of that storyline could have been done much better from the beginning of the season. If I knew anything about Sophia, her personality, etc. it might have actually been sad. I was just more so relieved that the constant search for her was finally over.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. I love power.
Well I just watched the last 4 episodes and I enjoyed the finale. Still think this season is moving way too slow. I really hope they don't stay in the farm and move on and Maggie goes with them.
The one thing that I still have a problem with with this show is there are next to no likable characters. In my opinion the only likable characters are Darryl and Glen, everyone else is either a p***y (Rick, Laurie, the lesbian looking lady, Dale), a complete monkey (Dale again), a b**** (Andrea, who I hope dies for shooting Darryl; and Laurie).
And although almost no one I find likes Shane, I love that guy.
My entire twitter feed every Sunday is just "I hope Shane dies" or "Shane is such a dick". I personally think he's the shows best character (although I'm also partial to Darryl) and everyone is hoping they kill him off.
I hate Rick, the guy is a complete puss.
The sucky part though is that most of the characters are already developed so it isn't like they are going to improve anytime soon. Hopefully the plot lines get better though, because the missing girl plot line was terrible and boring.

I think a lot of the hate for Shane comes from his actions at the CDC. He also comes across as selfish. To me he is equiped to handle the zombie appocolypse; but alone and not as part of a large group.
Yes, he was propbably right about the search for the girl being futile (and in the end he was right.) But seeing as they had their first normal type of safe haven; it wasn't such a bad idea to let the non-hunters in the group rest and build some strength.
Finally got a chance to watch the last 2 eps of the show, and the ending of the 'finale' was outstanding. It's rare that something happens on TV that (to me anyway) was a total surprise but still makes absolute perfect sense. With Dexter being not great this season, I was extremely pleased with The Walking Dead even though it kind of plodded along for a bit there. I actually yelled out loud to the TV "That's brilliant!" when she gimped her way out of the barn and they showed the reaction of all the blast-o-rama crew. Then Rick went up for the coup de grace when nobody else could.
AMC has extended the third season renewal for "The Walking Dead" to include a trio of bonus episodes.
While Saturday's (January 14) "Walking Dead" extension brings Season 3 to 16 episodes, up from six for the first season, 13 for Season 2 and the originally ordered 13 for next season.
Presumably the third "Walking Dead" season will be targeting the show's traditional October premiere window.
Through the first seven episodes of its second season, "The Walking Dead" continues to draw the biggest audience among adults 18-49 of any basic cable drama in TV history. Off the air since November, "The Walking Dead" will return to complete this season starting on February 12 with an episode titled "Nebraska.

Is he that big of a puss in the comics too? The show better pick up in a hurry - a slow first 5 episodes of the season and a 2 month break between air times is a risky venture.

I think you're in the minority here. I loved the episodes. I think you're just wanting an "all action" zombie show and TWD isn't and was never intended to be "all action". Also TWD was the most watched cable show this year.
I wouldn't want to "spoil" anything someone hasn't read yet or watched yet, but Rick gets pretty bad ass. Then he struggles and then he's bad ass again... It's only been a few months right now in the timeline and he's still struggling with the leadership role, but now that he just went bad ass and shot the child zombie we will see some great action with the power struggles coming up.

Rick is all about trying to compromise at this point, it's just the way he is, the character is great because it's an important role that I think a lot of people would actually turn out to be if they were faced with a similar situation. He seems to be desperately holding on to his view of society and he doesn't want to lose it. That being said he was the only to step up and shoot Sophie when the rest of the group stood there dumbstruck.
