First Contact is entertaining. But it ended up raping the Borg.
As a stand alone movie, it's an okay 'zombie' movie. But it isn't that great. Really isn't that much substance to it.
I have a soft sport for First Contact, but yeah you nailed it here. It's a simple movie to breeze through with a cast of characters I love. And I always get goose chills with Picard's "it ends HERE, this far and no further!" speech.

I get goose chills with how they totally rewrote Picard and turned him into a psychopath.

Yeah, there are two IMAX screens in Lower Mainland that would show DKR, but for some odd reason, the Richmond theatre went on sale and the Langley theatre has yet to do so. Not sure why. Maybe the site cant hold all the traffic at once. Apparently the Australian site crashed for over half hour when they went on sale due to the demand.
I imagine people are gonna be gunning hard for those IMAX midnight tickets. Calgary has only one IMAX screen that shows regular movies, and they do seem to have tickets for non-midnight shows. That would really blow (and not make a lot of sense financially) if they didn't have a midnight show.

It's still like 6 weeks away. I imagine when they go on sale though it will be a nightmare to try and get IMAX tickets in general. I will try for the midnight tickets, but they will be sold out in minutes of people actually realizing they are for sale. I'm aiming for Friday night.
The Dark Knight Rises is a movie to be seen in IMAX, no other way is sufficient.

They do have a Midnight show, just switch the date as it's auto fixed to Friday shows for some reason. Although I guess you want the Imax tickets, which don't have a Midnight screening for some reason...

Avengers is also more family orientated and is helped by being partnered with Disney.
I don't think Dark Knight has a chance on beating it. If it can top the numbers of the second movie (with all the Heath Ledger hype surrounding it), I will be impressed.
