Of course at the end of it all, there's this final grift opportunity tacked on as well.

I think these are the facts the public needs to have hammered into them over and over. This government just used the notwithstanding clause to force through the worst education policy in Canada. That's their long term plan. Be the worst.
#### you, UCP. You are welcome to be the worst in Canada, but do it on your own. Albertans don't want to join you.

I've emailed my MLA twice in my adult life. Both times in the last 4 weeks. Also signed up to volunteer for my local NDP constituency.

I agree with everything you said except the last sentence. Albertans saw the ####show that happened in UCP’s first term and was like “yes I think I’ll have more of that please.”
This is about as face eating leopards as a party can get and Albertans chose this, because they had theirs and therefore, no one else can.

It’s 2025 and the role has something to do with child welfare so the conservative move would be more likely to appoint a high profile sex offender.

We need more of this. Kids are now going back to something that is 10x worse than it was before all of this (and that is saying something). I have heard it first hand that more than just a few teachers are done after this and many will either pack it in over the coming weeks or do so at the end of the year. The crumbling system could entirely collapse by the new year due to lack of teachers, lack of morale or willingness to go the extra mile any longer.
Teachers will not be doing anything beyond what is contractually obliged anymore in order to stop propping up a system that fully devalues them and squashes their rights. Worse, the precedent is now set for this government and others to just squash any debate they don't like and fully get away with it unless action is strong and united.
I'm cautiously optimistic that the Alberta Unions will absolutely shut this province down in response on Wednesday, but given that shrew took off to the middle east, I doubt she even cares.

I don't know what's worse in all of this. The gaslighting that they have been trying to bargain at all and find a path to a deal, or watching them all smugly sit acting like they are stepping in to save the children when they could have done something, anything months, nearly even years ago to prevent this or at the minimum make it a civil process.
Horner, Smith and Nicolaides will get theirs at some point. I truly believe it. Terrible human beings through and through that don't deserve anything good in life. Just appalling to wake up this morning and realize it wasn't all a bad dream but this is the true reality of "strong and free" Alberta.

Spouse is just crushed and disenchanted today.
Actually created an Indeed account last night to start looking at other careers (10+ years as a teacher in Alberta)

Anyone in any professional - if you are not happy I suggest you change jobs or careers. It's the best thing on mental health.

How do you suppose encouraging a whole bunch of good teachers to quit is going to work out for our education system? Or are you OK with kids growing up to be illiterate morons to run our province and vote? How do you think that will work out? Oh...hold on...
