I think there are 2 kinds of people who build their wealth.
Those with intelligence and a high risk tolerance. Those aren't the people you mention.
Then there's those that happened to get some money to invest, lucked into the opportunity to invest super early, and lucked into hitting the right thing at the right time.
Those are often the "smartest person in the room" type.
The thing with the people who actually ARE the smartest people in the room, they won't announce it, they won't flaunt it, and because they know what they don't know, they don't think it either.
I often find the smartest people I know call themselves idiots and praise other very intelligent people.
To be perfectly clear, I also call myself and idiot, but I'm just self aware enough to know it. Hell I've been a Flames fan for 34 years, what further proof do you need?
It's rarely about being the smartest guy in the room.
The single biggest factor I have seen in successful or wealthy people is their ability to identify and surround themselves with (other) intelligent people... Even on the surface of someone that's "going it alone", there's usually a legion of high level people behind the scenes - lawyers, accountants, marketers, etc.
Rush's biggest failure was thinking he was the smartest guy in the room while simultaneously being too dumb to surround himself with smart people.

This assumes the world is way more of a meritocracy than it is. I think familial wealth factors in more than the two you mentioned.
But you don't build familial wealth, that's handed down.
Granted yes, I should have said generally people who build their wealth fall into one of these two categories. However, familial wealth isn't built by the recipient it's inherited.

I'm remined of the late great Norm McDonald on Cosby, I'm pretty sure Rush's biggest failure is he killed 4 other people in his piece o' crap submarine

It wasn’t the hypocrisy?

No, but you build off of it.
Think of a guy taking out student loans to go to university, then financing a car, then renting and saving for a few years before he can scrape together a down payment on his first starter home. Now compare him against the guy with his education paid for by his parents, driving to school in the car they bought for him, living in the house they put the downpayment on. That guy will throw a few roommates in there to pay the mortgage while he's in school and think he's a financial genius.
I didn't know just how striking the difference was, but I've seen both sides and we are not all playing the same game. It's mind blowing the advantages some people have and the slingshot to success it provides.

It doesnt matter who said it. Just think of the concept.
He sounds a lot like my far right buddy. I love him to death, but these deflections are engrained, it's hilarious. "Oh a quote!!!! From some leftist probably, I don't trust it!!!!!".
He's the best guy you'll ever meet though, he'd die for his friends and family. Love him. The far right guys all sound the same because they're all reading from the same sources while thinking they're finding their own info, lol.

It sounds more like the postings are automatic marketing postings that were pre-scheduled to launch prior to the accident happening. Many reports say their facilities were closing shop.

wouldn't sending a remote camera sub down and watching that way just as good? i mean you're probably looking through a small window i would think 4k video would be even better.

I don't know, i could never do that trip not only because I am claustrophobic but mainly because personally I find it disrespectful. It was a major tragedy that saw so many people perish, it is basically a giant graveyard. It is like when archeologists open up Egyptian tombs and sarcophagus, it seems so disrespectful to me. I mean how is that not essentially grave robbing?

I could never do it because I dont have an irrational burning desire to impress people I couldnt care less about.
I think the Titanic is super cool. I like the Titanic museums and the 4k ROV footage is plenty good for me.
Am I going to climb Everest? No. Because I dont want to. It looks like a miserable experience.
I'm fine with Egyptian Archeology. I like the concept of displaying this culture in a museum so average people can see and learn about it, I love museums, sure there are some ethical questions at play, but nothing's perfect.
Its not really 'Grave Robbing' because its for the purpose of knowledge, understanding and education. Its not like they find all this cool stuff and just keep it for themselves (anymore).
I dont have to go into the damned burial site or anything...the museum is just fine for my purposes.
