Group turned on it's head with the two favourites taking the L.
Poland a bit overrated IMO - got a bit of a cupcake draw for qualifiers.

That's what I thought initially but him and the Cb were both unaware of Niang coming on.

And just like that, the Colombia/Poland match becomes an elimination match.

That is a good point but I am still not sure why he plays it back. He had time to settle the ball no need for an awkward ball played back.

But there is nothing at all wrong with that. The player was at half waiting to come on, thats the rules. Nothing at all wrong with that. The fact that the ball gets played to him is not his fault.
And I disagree, as a defender your head is on a swivel at all times, I dont think that was unfair at all. Unfortunate? Sure. But the Senegalese player had no idea that backpass was coming. Right place at the right time, but no unfair advantage.
I do like the discussion from the panel though.

It's a horrible back pass and Niang still had to outwork the CB coming from much further away to get there.
He had come back on right before the ball was headed by the Senegal player in the midfield, then the Poland player decides to try and play the most ridiculous back pass ever by just not even looking and volleying a high looping, bouncing ball back towards his goalie.
Nobody to blame there but themselves for Poland.

Its just a crazy coincidence. There was no unfair advantage, the refs probably thought that since the ball was in the Senegalese half it was only fair to let their 11th man back on the pitch, then the Senegalese win and clear the ball and the Polish CB decides on the world's most ambitious back-pass and thats how that house of cards fell.
You're right, nobody to blame there except the Poles.

He feels that he should have waited for the Poles to have clear possession but the bigger mistake was still the awful back pass from Poland.

The guys on FS1 all thought it was fine (Lalas, Hidink, Seedorf).
Asia has now won two games. They didnt win any last WC.
Asia+Africa is 2-6-0 vs CONMEBOL and UEFA so far. They were 1-16-4 last WC.

Yeah I disagree with Webb here too on needing to wait longer. Ball was kind of ping ponging around in the Senegal half with no real danger to either team, Poland technically did have possession- good of time as any to let him back in the game.
And really you should never play a high, bouncing back pass that is clear over the head of your last defender but still causes your keeper to need to come 20-30 yards out to play it.
Just an idiotic play and they deserve the goal against just for that alone.

Is there a set criteria in the rules that Webb is referring to re clear possession or is he talking from a position of unfairness as opposed to unlawfulness.
