My reasoning for iggy is he showed he can still produce in those last 19 games in LA, hes always been able to put the puck in the next (Reaves hasnt) im not saying 1st line duties but hey 3rd to 4th line with maybe some time on the powerplay. Inexpensive and hey bring some wisdom to the kids, maybe not such a bad idea. (Plus a RH shot which were lacking)

Reaves, Iginla has been out for a season and would probably not benefit havin 4th line time.

I like Ma. Stone, but not at the price of Andersson and Jankowski. Would much rather trade Michael and then just acquire either a pick or Pageau.

Iginla is about to turn 41 and 3rd - 4th line time is all he can probably handle. Like i said his 1st line days are behind him. Thats why i slotted him there. And yes he had off season surgery but if i know anyone that would be in the best shape possible for the start of the season it would be him. Main reason i would sign him is definitely the PP, is Lindholm gonna magically make it click? I dont think so. Watch how much respect they give the left side when Iggy is waiting there for a one timer. Its gonna make so much more open up for the other guys on the ice.

Ottawa has hedged their bets that next Season they will be good enough to be no higher than a 4th OA pick. IMO they are not trading Stone right now. That makes them worse at least on paper.

In two days Iginla will be 41-years-old, and has had a surgical procedure since his last NHL game, which was well over a year ago. He is too slow to play—the same issues that Jagr suffered last year are those that will affect Iginla.

And no, I don't think Lindolm and Hanifin will "magically make the powerplay click." But I do think an entirely new coaching strategy will make an enormous difference.

Thanks for the clarification Jiggy.

Gotta say he'd obviously be a fine piece to add, and once Lindholm and Thachuk were locked in long term our forward core would be set up pretty good for 4 years minimum.

Pretty clear that Rasmus would be one piece going the other way in any Mark Stone trade, plus other pieces.

I doubt Ottawa wants to trade Mark, but there seems to be a lot of players wanting out of there right now understandably.

I dunno....

Rasmus
Janko OR Bennett
2019 1st (lottery protected)

That's a pretty solid return for a 26 YO top line forward IMO.

Way Too much to give up for a guy who has had a few concussion issues.

The biggest thing when creating our lineups is figuring out where it makes the most sense to slot these players. The coach will have a lot of flexibility with Lindholm(C/RW), Bennett (C/LW/RW?), Frolik (LW/RW), Tkachuk (LW/RW?), Lazar (RW/C).

Right now based on our depth chart I'd say you have to slot Lindholm in at RW. I mean in terms of offensive top 6 RWers Lindholm is really the only option who's played there before and the only option who is right handed.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm

I think it has to be Lindholm or Tkachuk on the top line. And I think since Tkachuk drives offensive like Johnny does I think our deepest lineup is when we spread them apart. So I think the best fit is likely Lindholm there.

Now for the 2nd line I can see it going two different ways. Either you really spread out the lines and try and get Jankowski centering a legit scoring line. Or you shelter Janko a bit more and get Backlund some more offensive wingers.

Bennett-Jankowski-Tkachuk
Bennett-Backlund-Tkachuk

I think either would be fine. Personally I think if you're willing to live a bit with Bennett/Janko's growing pains I think the first option spreads out our top 3 lines the best.

That leaves something like
Frolik-Backlund-Foo/Lazar/Brouwer
Mangiapane-Backlund-Frolik

The rest of the lineup construction will depend greatly on who impresses in camp. Guys like Foo, Lazar, Brouwer, Mangiapane can play their way onto, up or off the lineup as the case may be.

So if the Ryan and Czarnik rumours are true:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Bennett-Jankowski-Tkachuk
Frolik-Backlund-Czarnik
Mangiapane-Ryan-Foo/Lazar

??

it's gonna be very interchangeable since there are quite a few players who can play multiple positions, maybe another FA signing or trade for a top 6 winger to cap it off. Could also see Dube making it.

No, that's an insulting offer for a point-per-game winger with near Selke level defense qualities. Lottery protecting the first is just adding insult to injury at that point.

I don't mind the flyer on Czarnik, would much rather pass on Ryan.

Trade for a 2nd line RW, start Lindholm with Gaudreau and Monahan

And please get the chemistry going in the preseason for once. Play the projected lineup before Game 1 of the regular season.

Lots of guys that can play multiple positions but here goes my prediction...

Gaudreau - Monahan - RW TBD
Tkachuk - Backlund - Lindholm
Bennett - Jankowski - Czarnik
Lazar - Ryan - Foo/TBD

Frolik and Brouwer out (not sure how but I think that's the plan). Lots of competition between Mangiapane, Dube, Foo, Klimchuk, Czarnik and Lazar I think. If we get a RW by trade, that may mean Bennett/Janko are the odd ones out. Gotta give to get. Lineup still needs some size and grit up front.

Lol now I want Neal too

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Czarnik
J. Neal - D. Ryan - S. Foo
Bennett - Janko - Frolik

Rolling 4 lines assuming Czarnik/Foo step up.
