When we were poorer, we had a used two-tone silver and grey Topaz with a reverse gear that stopped working on it. We couldn't afford to fix it, and it made parking, and well most driving, very challenging. We'd come out of the apartment sometimes and find that somebody had parked too close in front of us, our hearts sank. Driving was mostly a 2 person endeavour, and we'd actually seek out hills to park on to make things easier.

Reminds me of my first truck, a black 1979 Ford Shortbox.

Had a couple teeth missing on the ring gear, once in a while it would stop with those missing teeth right at the starter. I'd have to open the hood and rotate the fan/belt by hand just a bit, lot of fun.

I had a mid-80s tempo when I was younger. It was ~20 years old at the time, and bottom had literally rusted through in the passenger side. I used to joke that the floor mats were structural, since if you picked up the passenger one you could see the ground. On cold days I'd park it in the nearby casino underground parking over night, but one day I forgot and it just gave up and died. No amount of block heater, jumping would start it, and a new battery would have doubled the value of the vehicle so that was where it ended.

My eyes quickly passing over "1979 Ford Shortbox" initially read that as "1979 Ford ####box". To-may-to, to-mah-to, I suppose.

kijiji after their update about a month ago is all effed up.

If you don't list a price for your item it automatically defaults to "free"

Also I pay for top ads all the time and since the update I'm only getting about 10% of the views I normally got.

"Bud" in Urban Cowboy sure wouldn't drive a ####box, he was one cool authentic Texan cowboy. Who had fancy hair and may have previously been a dancer in NYC.

I doubt anyone remembers that movie but it does showcase that exact truck. : )

They are very liberal with the use of the promoted ads. “You searched for a motorcycle? Lets show you a swathe of tenuously connected, at-best, items before we show you any of what you actually were interested in buying”.

I am finding the same. I hadnt posted anything in a number of months, but have sold hundreds of LEGO sets over the years on Kijiji. I posted a few collector sets yesterday, and the view counter shows maaaaybe 10% of what it did back in December.

Either the counter is messed up, the crappy app update has driven everyone away, or the collector LEGO market is completely dead.

Not saying they aren't a bunch of idiots who broke it, but I'd expect the market for people looking at Lego to be much bigger in December than April

Generally deal with decent people. But the ones that are useless, are wildly horrific.

Amazing that some can live their lives without understanding the concept of time or showing up on time. We've stopped natural selection from doing it's thing. Useless bags of meat.

Wish me luck... gotta post a few things for sale...
That said within the last month I've bought 2-3 stellar items for fantastically low prices. IMO sellers whose stuff stagnates tend to be people who 1) don't know how to post properly and 2) therefore don't get responses, 3) don't know the value of what they're selling; and 4) sometimes just want to get rid of it. Definitely worked in my favor a few times (as has moving quickly on well-priced stuff)... and I've definitely found that being polite, respectful, and timely all help get the deal.

Now selling... yeah... that can be fun with some "useless bags of meat".

According to paypal, an echeque will take up to 7 working days to clear (or longer). Plenty of time for the buyer to pick up your hutch and then cancel the cheque afterwards.

We said no to the echeck and insisted on only cash or e-transfer and she deleted the conversation and or her profile so we made the right choice! Thanks CP

I had one a while back, and it's maybe been pointed out already in this thread, but just in case ...

Was selling some expensive collector Lego sets. About 11pm, I Get a reply "My husband has been searching for this set for a long time. I can't pick it up until tomorrow. Can I send a 25% down-payment by etransfer and pay the rest by cash or etransfer tomorrow at pick up?"

It was a reasonable request, and still a fairly large amount. So after a few back and forth setting pick up time and location (never my home), she sent the deposit.

Here's the scam - It was an etransfer request for payment, not a sent payment. The email, graphics, link all look pretty similar. A distracted person, maybe multitasking on a phone or something, could easily click accept and send instead of receive. Maybe after the initial link they look more different, but I don't know.
