should be an exciting finish to the season, I still think Southampton and West Ham fade back a bit but you have City and Chelsea neck and neck for the title
United/Spurs/Arsenal and maybe Liverpool for 3rd and 4th
we need another CB definitely, Kaboul injuries have caught up, Chirches is risky and Dier too young to be 3rd choice
I didnt think he played well today but in general the combo is good, he's amazing in the air, leads the league in cleared headers per game and thats an area where we used to have huge issues with
Gerrard is apparently leaving Liverpool at the end of the season
Quote:
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is set to announce he is leaving the club at the end of the season. Gerrard has not decided where his next destination will be but he has informed the club he will not be signing a new contract at Anfield. He is expected to issue a statement this morning in order to remove any ambiguity over his future.
Liverpool have been eager for an amicable resolution in the event of Gerrard deciding he wanted to end his 25-year association with them. He will attract interest from a host of clubs both in Europe and particularly in Major League Soccer in the United States. But the 34-year-old will consider his options between now and the summer.
Will be a sad day. Gerrard was one of the main reasons I became a Liverpool fan. I've never really known a Gerrard-less Liverpool.
No hard feelings from me though. I think the last few months have been really tough on him and that a move away is probably the best thing for him and the club right now.
Really? I'd be ecstatic if the Whitecaps signed him
I'd take a South American #10 in their prime over Gerrard.
The problem I have with him as a DP isn't just this coming season, it's also the fact a team usually gets stuck with the down years too as their bodies break down (Di Vaio, Koevermans, Frings)
I'm just saying the age presents a big risk.
TFC spent big money on Bradley last year and shipped Laba out. Would you trade Laba to make room for Gerrad? I wouldn't. I'd keep the young stud for many years to come. Continuity is an under rated aspect in MLS, just look at RSL.

Damn it Woody, when we said "sign the Spanish goalkeeper", we meant the other one!!!
Quote:
Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has accepted an offer to join Manchester United.
The Spain international, who has been training with United in his bid to recover from a serious knee injury, has agreed an 18-month contract. Valdes, 32, won six La Liga and three Champions League titles with Barcelona, before leaving at the end of last season when his contract expired.
The deal could lead to reserve keeper Anders Lindegaard leaving Old Trafford.
It also poses a question about the future of 24-year-old first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea, who was the club's player of the year last season and has excelled again this term. His contract is due to expire in 2016, although senior United sources have said they were relaxed about him signing an extension to that deal.
I couldnt believe this at first, I went through all of the stages of grief and was even really upset with Rodgers for a while.
After reading more and calming down a lot, this is probably the best for all involved.
Initially I thought the issue was the lack of a contract offer at the right time, and even Stevie mentioned that being an issue, I thought that was Oiler-esque bush league but then as I read on I realized that the reason that contract wasnt offered was because of expectations.
Gerrard wants to play 90 minutes start to finish all the time. He didnt want his minutes managed.
At his age, at this level and with the expectations of this team his minutes were going to have to be managed. That is not unreasonable, whether he was happy about it or not.
I wish Gerrard the best and can only hope that this will have an Iginla-type effect on the team and that they can move forward.
I cant even imagine a Gerrard-less Liverpool. Its gonna be weird....

believe it or not, but I was a bit sad too. Gerrard's always been one of those players from rivals that I had a ton of respect for and I always thought he'd retire at Liverpool. At least we'll never see him at another club in England like Lampard ...
... and speaking of Lampards club, they are about to shell out 30m for Wilfried Bony

I always thought he'd retire at Liverpool too, but it just makes sense. He wants to keep playing, but the only way to continue to do that is to start dropping leagues.
MLS is perfect. You dont have to see him play for another English team, but then he'll also never win the League which he damned well should have.
The man is a proper legend.

There's a reason he's known outside of Liverpool as Stevie Me. He's a selfish git.
He had no business going to the papers saying he would have signed a new contract in the summer except to stir things up. Zero benefit to that at all.
Then there's that cr@p that if Rodgers was managing the club 10 years ago he'd be sitting talking trophies! lol He's bought into Rodgers so much that he's now jumping ship!
He's a proper legend in that his lasting legacy will be leading Liverpool to zero titles and the slip when they had one in their grasp. Like it or not. In twenty years time that's what he'll be remembered for by fans outside of Liverpool.
