I do wonder if there’s something we can do with CBJ, as they have a surplus of centers right now, with Mony, Fantilli, Sillinger, Johnson, Kuraly, and Jenner (although a few of these guys are primarily wingers). Would love to get Johnson or Sillinger.

While Makar could be a pipe dream it is also within reason as he lives here in the offseason and when his contract is up the Flames should be a team on the upswing when the Avs could be that aging team on the downside

I'm not a rumor guy but it's the dog days so take it with however much salt you'd like, but I worked with a guy who played professionally in Europe and is friends with a lot of NHL players and told me some pretty funny stories about guys on the team and in the system the past few years (said Dube was an all time blockhead when he drank, which I think is common knowledge). In addition to telling me what the real situation with kylington was, he said Wolf is a genuine hockey JUNKIE and also claimed that Makar wants to come home as a UFA. I don't know how much stock I put into it, but we can dream I suppose....

Just throwing this out there... What about a Laine and say a 3rd for Kuzmenko and one of our multiple 6-7 D-men.

Laine can also play both wings and on rare occasion C. He maybe the pure shooter for Hubby to set up. Kind of what CBJ planned for Laine and Johnny..

It is a risk taking on a Laine but Kuzmenko is also risky. He could be a total dud with no real trade value come deadline.

If you can get a solid year out of Laine his trade value next year when he is a UFA would be much higher than Kuzzy.

I agree that I would like either of those two on the Flames. I could be mistaken but I recall last TDL Sillinger's name being floated around in some trade rumours.

There’s been plenty of rumours around Kent Johnson too, as he wasn’t gelling at all with the coach. Coach is gone now, but perhaps KJ has soured on the organization?

Small update, but only reaffirming what’s already been said.

1. Calgary continues to pursue Kakko, but they don’t want to pay a 1st and are more so inclined to make a deal around what they got for Bennett (2nd +) and from what I’ve heard they’re very much in the mix. NYR are playing hardball though so it remains to be seen if a deal can be made.

2. Craig still interested in weaponizing cap space and there’s a few teams in real trouble currently so he’s making the calls. I have no hot take here, so Sec will be the person to monitor on this one, seems like he’s hearing better details.

3. Keep your eyes out for a Wolf contract/extension, I’m told this is currently at the top of Craig’s to do list. Part of the delay is a result of some negotiations around 2way vs 1way with the player obviously pushing for a 1 way deal. Likely comes in around 875k for 2-3 years. I expect this to be shored up very shortly.
