Removing Foegele weakens their bottom 6 further (he is probably the best of that group)

Holloway is the only real prospect they have, and removing him also weakens their depth. And there is a player there, if he can get a new home.

And Markstrom keeps their cap as jammed as possible. Also, Markstrom would not bail out the Oilers - no goalie will look good with that defense. And the fans would turn on him in no time.

The trade - at first - seems unexciting, but when you think it through, it weakens the Oilers and helps the Flames.

Markstrom has been fine this year. New Jersey and Carolina need goalies. Why help out the Oil when you get a dump, a struggling prospect, and a 2nd from a team that has actually drafted some talent outside of top 3 picks. Disagree on Holloway. Broberg will be thrown onto the heap sooner than later as well.
