I think it was 960 that played this quote from Vin Scully in "For Love of the Game" yesterday afternoon talking about Scherzer's start and it felt so true.
"He's pitching against the future, against age, and even when you think about his career, against ending. And tonight I think he might be able to use that aching old arm one more time to push the sun back up in the sky and give us one more day of summer".
Scherzer's start last night felt like something right out of movie, and he delivered.
Love this.
I also thought of Chet Steadman from Rookie of the Year. One last start to remind everyone of the magic.
Legendary stuff yesterday from Scherzer. If they win this series, absolutely a ‘where were you’ moment for Jays fans to basque in for some time.

Brooks Robinson was my favorite player as a kid - and I have some memory of watching that year, as he was on fire. Vladdy, Springer and Clement are my favorite Jays. I really like this list.
(no, I do not remember Turkey Stearnes)

I can't say enough about how much of a treat it was to watch a HOFer absolutely dealing in a Jays jersey, possibly for his last start ever. Will remember that one.
Definitely a core memory for the taking. Really want us to win him another wing just to cement his HOF ballot even more (we already know it’s 1st ballot), but to get him to 3 rings on 3 separate teams would be amazing.

And then one (HOF) ring to rule them all, and in the halls, bind them
I think it already rises to the level of a core memory, along with several others with this run. A WS appearance, and win (though LA looks like they will be tough) would put a bow on it, but these moments will live on regardless.
- The final game of the season to clinch the east, with Kirk's grand slam
- Vladdy's grand slam
- The Mad Max start.
- The Yesavage first start against the Yankees
Those are the ones that come to mind so far.

remarkably the same Vin Scully who called the actual Scherzer-Kershaw surprise start game in 2008

The 'DAAAA Yankees lose!!' moment is another I'll remember, just because it was not only hilarious, but a rare moment where a star player completely backs up his words. And in a lot of ways, that series as a whole was Vlad's 'arrival' as a leader for this team.

I've been critical of him in the past, but seeing him emerge this post season has been amazing. It's the production, the aggressive fielding. But it's the little things, like him telling Scherzer to disguise his pitches more early in yesterday's game. A small thing, but a really important detail that shows how locked in he is, and that he is willing to even do that with future HOFer Mad Max.
I see Dodgers fans are being salty about Scherzer yelling at Schneider saying that it wasn't about the team and it's all about him. They're still bitter at him for his dead arm claim after game 2 against the Braves in 2021.
It's highly doubtful to happen but it would be so funny if the Brewers came back to beat them. The team and their fanbase deserves to be embarrassed like that.

I've always found them being so bitter about that funny too.
Started the wild card game and gave them 4.1 innings of 1 run ball.
Then started against the giants and gave them 7 innings of 1 run ball with 10 strike outs.
Then came in to get the save 3 days later and had 2 strike outs.
Then started 3 days after that and gave them 4.1 innings again with 2 earned runs and 7 strike outs.
Somehow he gets blamed for it all but he kind of was doing all he could.
Them losing to the Brewers would be fine, but It'd be even sweeter if somehow Scherzer beats them for a deciding game in the World Series TBH.
Very good chance we see Bryan Woo for an extended period tonight. I'd imagine Miller will be lifted after once through the Jays order and then we see Woo.
One thing I'll say now is I think there is no way to call this season a disappointment anymore.
I think had they went down with a whimper against the Mariners it would have left a sour taste and it would shave been criticized still.
But now it's 2-2 , they are right there against a good team in the ALCS, they've given some great moments throughout the playoff. Now it's gravy and it's time to just enjoy whatever is left in this ride.
Go get this World Series.
