Bunch of ####ing morons on the road.
Yes, I see you driving 30 in a 50 zone.
Yes, I see you glancing down at your phone the whole way.
Yes, I see that you are slowing down to 20 at every intersection to compare against your phone or check your tiktok.
Yes, I see that you're a god damn sack of #### that should not be allowed to see sunlight nevermind driving a vehicle.
and
Yes, I see that you decide to actively stop at a green light to allow normal waiting pedestrians to try to kill themselves crossing the street against traffic and the law.
You dumb***mother****ers. Waste of skin.

They put horns in vehicles for a reason, I find we don’t use them enough in Calgary. A light tap as a friendly reminder and long blasts for dangerous situations. Stopping to allow a jaywalker through would definitely earn the long blast.

Calgary drivers are so insanely bad post Covid, it’s actually hard to grasp how terrible it is. I’m on bike a lot so I am always checking out what others are up to, and I’ll be damned if a solid 50% aren’t immediately looking at their phones when they come to a stop, often stopping harder and earlier than they need to because of it. Then they can’t bother to assess traffic and need to lift their stupid heads to notice the vehicle in front of them has moved so then the they gotta step on. Then they are right back to their phones and need to slam on the brakes because they didn’t see traffic slowing down.
The other 40% are this weird mix of fools who can’t do 71 in a 70 zone because it’s dangerous but will drive in a way that maximizes risk to everyone whilst going slow, and ######s who’ll cut in front of a family car at highway speeds because they don’t give a #### about anything but looking tough in their rigpig whip or stupid ass Audi.
1 in 10 are good. Everyone else, ####ing absurd how ####ty they are here now. I ####ing hate it.

If we are on traffic gear grinders, there's nothing more frustrating than being at an intersection going straight about eight cars back at a red and watching your light turn green, but nobody can go because there's a lumbering truck still turning left with a couple of stragglers obviously blowing their red light trying to sneak in.
By rights you should be through that intersection on the original light

I was coming up to an intersection on Macleod and the light turned green like just before I arrived at the intersection, say 20 seconds, and i'm like too good to be true it must be a trap, so I'm not gonna just go as my spidey senses were tingling, so as I edged into the intersection to turn right this dumb duck drives through the red light looking at and holding his cell phone.
He would have crashed into me without a doubt, secondly he then proceeds to turn into a lot in the exit loop.
The other fun one is of course the 3rd and 4th car that turn on a red light. You are not clearing the intersection if you are not in the intersection, you are running a red light.
What's also mystifying is we've given up on policing these rules all together, because you could literally go to a couple intersections daily and ticket these guys for running red lights. Would be great to have some way on a traffic enforcement unit to display what ticket is being issued. Like cell phone ticket / distracted driving $500 and 3 demerit points so while the ticket was being issued all the drivers could see.

Or, even more frustratingly, you're in a dedicated left turn lane, the advance turn signal is green, and there's absolutely no one in the way, but the people near the front of the line are cautiously and hesitantly making their left turn at extremely slow speeds because... maybe someone is somehow coming the other way despite them having a red light? Maybe your car is incapable of making a 90 degree left turn at a speed above 15kph? Who knows, but they're VERY concerned about the whole process.

This, and the pace / spacing that the following drivers proceed at, which frustrates drivers further back in the and potentially leads to them running the light to make it through the intersection... All a vicious circle that stems from the overly cautious weiners.

Actually, as mentioned above, they are still on their phone finishing what they were doing at the red light. They are turning slowly because they're only doing it with one hand.
I've been in the straight lane to their right watching slow reactors because a phone is still in their hand. Distracted driving is at it's worse right now.

Mississauga is the worst for advanced greens. For most of them, if everyone moves on time, you can get 4, or at the very most, 5 vehicles through. Guess how many times everyone moves on time?

WGMG is at a turning light, the front dawdler is too busy on their phone or spacing out to realize he's got the turning light flashing, and the person BEHIND them doesn't honk at them to nudge them forward. By the time the guy in the front realizes he/she can go, he/she screws like 3 or 4 cars in the line over because they wasted the precious seconds being a dumbass, and now other people will have to wait for the next turning light.

It's pretty evident that despite the advent of Carplay and Android Auto, most driver still prefer to use their phones while driving. I see so many people talking on their phones in new vehicles that all have hands free and it's pretty discouraging.

Not really my experience, to be honest. Driving with people and looking around I'd say it's a pretty minuscule amount of drivers that still take a physical phone and place it to their ear while driving. Like small enough that it's jarring when it happens, like you're looking back in time, lol.
