I would rather start Brian Elliott in the playoffs at this point.

I don’t profess to know who might be available, but I’d be willing to take a shot with just about any other goaltender with NHL experience playing backup for this team over Smith. Waive him. Bye Felicia. Problem solved.
Is there anyone, ANYONE, who would be okay watching Smith start even a single game in the playoffs? It’s an important part of this team desperately crying out for improvement. And it wouldn’t be hard to improve.

I wrote an article stating he isn't a good backup. But he is the backup they have, and no I don't think it's a given that the guy you brought in would be better at this point, or the 6 teams with worse backups would have already grabbed them.
He has to start when they deem him to start, he's been decent in 7 of those 11 games, and won 9 of them.

Hearing we are really close to picking up Brassard. Prospect involved that people might not like losing.

Brassard is not worth any notable prospects so this is disappointing if true.

Don't want Brassard. Don't want to give up a pick that I might not like losing.

I only want brassard if Mike Hoffman is coming too. No idea how we could make the cap work though lol

Not that it matters, but Brassard's current cap-hit is $3M (so Florida can retain an additional 500,000 I believe), as Vegas is currently eating $2M of his $5M cap-hit.

Actually somewhat useful knowledge. Is stone still on LTIR? If so I think that its doable if frolik is included. Brassard+Hoffman for frolik and prospect/picks

Is that by choice from the Flames? I thought it was if a player misses 10 games or 30 consecutive days they get put on LTIR.

Didn't mean to nitpick, but shouldn't it be like you wouldn't trade Janko for Brassard because he is 31 and on the decline?

Brassard would be an intriguing add. Hope it'd be cheap but I'd love to have a veteran playmaking centre to anchor that third line. This team needs more NHL-calibre middle-six forwards.

Because they are below the cap there is no reason to put Stone on LTIR.
LTIR is only needed when you need to exceed the salary cap due to injury.

They must have some reasoning. I think they can do it retroactively if they need to though...but not sure, LTIR is a tangled web.
