I mean I want Conroy to rip someone off like he did with Lindholm. But here you have a -38 dman with barely any offensive upside. Just take the 2 2nd rounders and start anew!

I will take the risk on a player like him.

Injuries is a concern. The bigger risk is gameplay. His last 4 seasons went 50, 49, 39, 31 points. In plus minus it was 30, 5, -11, -38.
Right now he is a 40 to 50 point D with one off year. If he has similar production this season then its not just one off year anymore.
Personally I think the Flames are an injury or a bad stretch away from the wheels coming off. I would love to be proven wrong, but Conroy has done very little to improve the team, is carrying a lot of cap space, and has traded away 7, soon to be 8, core veterans away. Hard work is only going to carry us so far, and the hard work may dissipate in a bad stretch when the players haven't had a lot of support from management. The point being, if the wheels do fall off I don't see Andersson having a great season.

Makes sense. They've done nothing to address their issues.
- They still only have 21/23 roster spots figured out
- They only have $1.955M in cap space
- Their RD depth is awful

I do think someone like mavrik bourque is both a reasonable ask and a reasonable base offer for Rasmus. Bourque + a 2nd is more value than a 1st or 2 2nds, but might be a more reasonable basis for a trade. The 1st round next year looks reasonable strong.
Rasmus+ stromgren for bourque and bischel maybe?

Yeah he was #### last year
But he is a proven top 4 dman, can fill in on the PP
Those fetch a 1st at the TDL every year
It’s his contract year, I can’t see him not showing up

Would love Bischel but I think he will be tough to get unless Rasmus agrees to re-sign

I'm not sure if it's just one off year.
He has regressed each of the last 3 years. At his age, it's a concern, especially since he's looking for an 8-year contract.
I do expect that barring a huge let down this year, he's still worth a 1st at the deadline. Teams are just looking at production for 2 months.

I don't think Bourque is worth a heck of a lot at the moment. I think he'd struggle to be in the top 9 on this team and we have better prospects down the pipeline for the future.

All I can get

LA's offer was probably something like...
A second.
A fifth.
A seventh.

I would be happy with Bischel and/or Borque coming in as the primary piece for Rasmus

There were rumors that a goalie was involved. Perhaps Carter Georg or Erik Portillo
I think George is a solid prospect but adding a goalie prospect isn't that compelling regardless of how good they are.

They would be lucky to get one. No chance they get both. And if Dallas was willing to trade either of them I feel like the trade would have happened already. A late 1st and some change seems like the best we're gonna get or something of similar value. If Andersson has a really strong year that might change things. If he is willing to sign an extension obviously different story. But it seems like he's heading towards being a rental and we're getting a Hanifin type return.

I couldn't honestly hazard a guess to what a Rasmus Andersson trade return will look like now. Summers almost over and I thought for certain he was going to be dealt July 1 after all the big RHS got signed. Then I thought they'd have something done around the end of arbitration.
Now the next date we can hope to see some movement is the opening of camp.
In my estimation, even if the Flames keep Andersson right up until the deadline, I can't guess as to what the return is going to be or what necessarily the Flames would be looking for.

I’m not sure a 1st, a 2nd, and a 25 year old defenceman with some potential is all that different than Bourque and a 2nd.

Pittsburgh basically got 2 1sts for Marcus Petterson and we are having trouble getting a 1st + for Rasmus. If this is true - such a Flames thing.

No, the Flames have apparently recieved better offers than that, but Andersson has exercised his NTC a few times the Flames were ready to make the move.

This is the Petterson trade
2025-Feb-01 Traded from Vancouver Canucks with Melvin Fernstrom, Vincent Desharnais and conditional round 1 pick in the 2025 draft (Jack Nesbitt) to Pittsburgh Penguins for Drew O'Connor and Marcus Pettersson

Right
And if the Flames got a first for Rasmus they could try to trade down and do the same thing
It’s a misleading way to put it
They got a single first for him plus a bunch of other stuff
And they also sent another roster player to Vancouver
