Is Simmonds not very good now, or isthe issue the assets it would take to acquire him? He is a player I have always coveted and wanted on the Flames.
He's just not the 30 goal scorer he once was. He's on the decline, and whatever team pays for him are going to be paying the price of 30 goal Simmonds, something he clearly isn't anymore.

WTF??
People think Simmonds is tough...cause Simmonds IS tough.
57 fights in his career, its always been part of his game and partly what makes him so valuable.
Skin color?

If the goal is to bring Simmonds in to toughen up the lineup, I think there are much better and cheaper options out there. If the goal is to get a power winger to play in the top 6 (more aptly what Simmonds was) then I think we are too late to hope that's what he is right now. I have heard too many people thinking that hes going to add the grit.
The issue with Simmonds is his skating and awful defensive ability. Suggesting that he's expected to be a tough guy because of his skin colour is absolutely laughable. He's naturally a very scrappy customer, it's just his playing style.

Most of those fights were like 5 years ago, and being top 3 on your team in hits is pretty meh imo. Hes tough for a guy who's 6'1 180 pounds but I dont think hes a deterrent. I just think his toughness is way overstated and my suspicion is that it has more to do with how he looks.

Simmonds is the 2nd leading goal scorer and 5th leading point getter on the Flyers...a team that struggles to score a lot.
Maybe he has slowed a step and perhaps his defensive game has suffered a bit, but he is the type of player that could really solidify this team and the kind of playoff vet that this team could most certainly use one or two more of IMO.
As with all deals though, it would hinge on acquisition cost.
Dube is a mid level prospect. He doesn't make top 50 lists or he's right around that number 50 spot. Pretty much a definition of a mid level prospect.
There are 31 teams so a top 50 list would very much be the upper tier of the prospects for all teams. If he is around 50 then it would mean would likely slot number 1 or 2 some teams. Mid level prospect probably closer to 100.

See the bolded. This is what *you* thought about the situation, this is *your* first reaction. Don't put this on others. Really bad take dude, really bad.

Yeah, Simmonds would be a good player for us - but I don't think I'd want any part of an extension for him, and because I'm not big on pure rentals I'd hope we'd be looking elsewhere.
I know we're scouting the Rangers, and it's undoubtedly a pipe dream...but damn, Zibanejad is sure taking another step this year - but with the age he's at, hard to believe a rebuilding team would move him.
Hey y'all call it lived experience, but if you dont think people of colour get typecast in hockey I think you need to wake up. I will can it for now though.

I just got that same weird feeling I get at Thanksgiving when grandpa gets drunk and starts using the N-word.

I don't know what other people were thinking but I feel like you imagined what people were thinking, thus you yourself were typecasting.

I'll take PK Subban's word for it rather than some rando quasi-racist on a message board:
