Any chance you get to bring a teenager to tears, you take it. That's what real men do.

Well, yeah. Empathy is for betas. I mean, I never felt like a trans person, so I know it's easy to just not be trans.

I wouldn't be trying to cross the border with a visa unless I was damn sure it was legally airtight. If there is any wiggle room at all, you're going to find yourself in a Arizona hotbox with a pay phone and hopefully a memorized friend's phone number.
America isn't going to suffer from a Canadian tourism boycott. They're going to suffer from taking a hatchet to their own tourism industry by overzealous border patrol rental cops.
What a nightmare for any immigrant.

Voters should think that way, but they don't. They've also been gaslighted into thinking this is way more prevalent. I hear lots of variations of the post someone made above that they should just get their own league, which implies that there are enough transgendered girls/women in hs/college sports to actually have a league, when in reality it is often less than 10 across all sports in a state.
Is it wise for the Democrats to continue this fight if it leads to everything you point out in that post? If they're losing elections, they are not protecting anyone's right to play sports. The fight is also leading to the demonization of transgendered people outside of sports.
Most Republican lawmakers likely don't personally care about this issue, but they are loving setting the trap to get Democrats to vote against these bans.

Because if you give them half an inch on one issue, they'll keep going until the only people with rights are straight white parents.

Probably a minimum of 80/20 Obama gets assassinated if he runs against Trump. Would pretty much be a layup with Trump in charge of the government. Which is probably why Obama would never do it, he's smart enough to realize this.

I agree with nfotiu's implication and disagree with Fuzz's. I think you concede this issue for now. It sucks. But let's take the L on this battle (for now) instead of surrendering the war (which is what has happened). Dems took the bait hook, line and sinker. They were played like a fiddle. It was obvious months/years ago this was going to lead to trouble and it has.

So what do you give them? No trans people in high level sport? Any sport? What about change rooms? Then it devolves into going after the entire LGTBQ community, as we've seen exactly that take place.
I get the high level sport issue, I really do. But that should be up to the individual sport federations consultations with medical experts and science. The answer may never be universal, perfect, or fair to everyone. But at least it would be handled intelligently. The rest of it does not matter to anyone, anywhere, no matter how loudly they bleat.

It is what it is though, this is a 0.01% issue the GOP can leverage into winning, playing into their hands is idiotic at this point. Doesn't mean you can't come back to this issue in the future, but for now you gotta concede it or it will be another loser for the Dems.

‘Convicted felon’ poster of Donald Trump seen on Calgary bus shelter
https://calgary.citynews.ca/2025/03/...gary-bus-stop/
Quote:
A large poster taking pointed shots at U.S. President Donald Trump was seen plastered on a Calgary bus shelter this week.
The “Not Wanted, Convicted Felon” poster of Trump could be seen at a bus stop along 1 Street SW in the Beltline neighbourhood on Wednesday.
Along with the poster title and photo of the sitting president, a description below his picture included aliases like “Cheeto Benito,” “Putin’s Puppet,” and “Diaper Don.”

I don't know. Honestly? Whatever the fk they want. Ban trans athletes? Okay, a-holes. They're banned. Now stfu and let's go back to talking about the economy, military alliances, trade alliances, social services, tariffs, rule of law, etc. etc. etc.
Dems need to play the GD game to get back into power so they can do anything positive instead of taking a principled stance that gives them no power to do anything at all.
Mind you, I think it's too late. I don't see dems getting power back. It'll never happen because they didn't play hardball when they had some power and the chance to make some changes and prosecute the criminals. It's over now, trans people have no rights, and millions of others don't, either, and the whole world will suffer.
Don't mistake that for me saying this is somehow trans people's fault because it clearly isn't. They were used as pawns by the Republicans and handled poorly by the dems. Not their fault at all and it's terrible that I am willing to sacrifice their participation in sports, but I think it would have been for the greater good and I'll wear that and take my licks for that opinion.

It is a wedge issue that people only care about because they are told to care about and that is done by Trump and the right wing media. If you give them an inch they will take a mile in this environment.
I am not willing to be able to sacrifice any group of people's rights, that isn't how rights work. It is an all-or-nothing thing, in my view, at least. There are less than a handful of trans athletes and their playing of a sport has no impact on the lives of anyone at all.
You fight them on every possible means, you drive home the fact that they are a regressive out of touch party that cares more about creating divides and accumulating wealth than they do about women playing sports, social security, or the lives of the average American. The fact that the media including social media is owned by the people who maintain power is absolutely terrifying.

Of course it has no impact on their lives. Most of the issues FOX and Co push have no direct impact on their lives. But in case you've been living in a cave, FOX and Co have been able to weaponize these issues to the morons who watch them, to the point they are close to getting their right wing authoritarian wet dream. Thinking you can beat them is naive, they have every advantage in their favor. But not playing their game means you can't lose.
