For the expansion draft, does Seattle HAVE to take a player from the oilers? I mean, could they waive the right, rather then be obligated?

Not selecting a player is essentially the same thing as picking Griffin Reinhart.
Seattle will probably pick Ty Rattie, and he will never be heard from again.

The only candidate better than Mark Messier would be Paul Messier.

If we think this can't get any better than it currently is, that's one way to put a cherry on top.
|
I'm starting to worry that if there are any more cherries added on top, this whole thing will collapse under the monumental weight of the top cherries. It's no longer cherries on top, it's layers upon layers of cherries.

Like when you see a guy crunch up a packet of smokes before tossing them in the garbage and hopping on the bus.
Life choices.

I think it's as simple as this: He's making money and doesn't have to confront his childhood heroes. The Oilers aren't his precious team, it's the memory of the dynasty team that is precious. Until he's forced to risk losing the friendship of his idols why would he do anything?

To be fair it's the 4 Oilers staring at Toews behind the net that are to blame, tough to say Oiler #5 at the blueline should be held responsible for picking up the guy in the slot during a 2 on 4.
But yeah, this is even worse than when Giordano scored in the middle of 4 Oilers last BoA. It's stunningly terrible defense.
I especially enjoy watching Lucic in this one. Plants himself couple of feet from Caggiula and ignores him. I did some math, at 13:30 average TOI this season for Lucic and he's being paid $7M cash, he earned $737 during this 7 second clip (assuming he plays all 82 games). Tbh I was hoping for something more dramatic, but still. The take home is that every second you watch Lucic this season he earns himself just over $100.

The Oilers are, and this isn’t a joke, going back to Talbot for the start tonight.
Seriously. They aren’t even playing Koskinen with their season on the line and coming off a game where Talbot got pulled.

Not that I mind this while he's an Oiler.

Not if he is going to play for the Rangers, I'll hate him just as much.

Must be shopping him. He’d be a guy I’d be interested in if I were BT. His price has gotta be as low as it can get right now, and he was a guy who played well with the Rangers, was a highly sought after commodity, and showed what he can do a few years ago. He’s been drinking that water too long, and I think he can be a good fit in a positive environment once plucked from that tire fire.
How many players have we seen perform better once they leave YEG. Send them Gillies (who Parsons has passed) and a conditional 5th if Talbot resigns in exchange for Cam.

Imagine what it must be like to be an Oiler player right now; I mean aside from the obvious!
It's got to wear on a guy to constantly hear how the Oilers have failed to build a team with good players to surround McDavid with. You really would get sick of hearing how much the team sucks and it's because of players like yourself that are on it! The morale must make the suckage even suckier.
