Yeah the Collectors weren't so bad my first few matches but they can be pretty nasty. And a lot more enemies stomp now too.
I actually forgot to try out a hazard map myself, and even White.

They seemed easier on other maps than White, although I only did silver there. I guess everyone just has to rethink White a bit. No one on our team even knew that it had been changed before we saw it.
They're going to change the hazard maps weekly. At least at first they'll rotate two of them per week. Do Dagger at least. Reactor isn't as cool.
They changed the tech combos among all the other things. Now they go off like biotic combos. Very satisfying.

I'm definitely interested in seeing more of Omega, but if it's 4-6 hours of wandering around orange-coloured-everything metal corridors with no variation, then I won't be too happy about that. The color pallette was pretty tiring.

So what's that, $35 just for the major story DLCs? you EA!

After that ending I haven't even touched the single player again. I've put a ton of hours into the multiplayer, but I can't conjure up the strength to play the single player again and beat it on Insanity.

I wasn't horribly disappointed by the original ending (I've since watched the extended cut endings on youtube and "meh" - I'm sad that they offered enough DEFINITE answers that killed the indoctrination theory), but one thing the ending did fail to do was get me excited about "what's next" in the mass effect universe.
It felt like an end of a journey and didn't offer me (personally) anything to really get excited about going forward.
Great trilogy, but I think I'm done with the Mass Effect universe. (of course, if they do manage to bring something out that is truly amazing I'll be intrigued, but my general excitement/interest for the universe is dead).

I'm not sure how they can do any post-ME3 content in the Mass Effect universe given that the galaxy is very different depending on your Shepard's last choice.
There's lots of lore (and wars) before Shepard's time that they can expand upon, though. If they do an MMORPG I'm automatically not interested, but anything else... well, I'll have to proceed with a lot more caution than I did with the original trilogy. =P

As a counter-point, while they were obviously wrong about what kind of control we'd have over the happenings of the ending, they were always clear that this was an ending, and they wanted to wrap up loose ends. This story has ended, and they will now look at new stories in the universe that are unrelated. Your story (as Shepard) is over, and that much is clear.
Interestingly enough, there are a bunch of huge Mass Effect fans who can't even stomach any further content to the series it seems. I imagine it relates to their attachment to their Shepard and with the story ending, it shuts the door on the universe for them as well.

And that's why you do Insanity on your first playthrough (IMO, ME3 was the least tedious Insanity run to do).
For me, I think it'll be quite a while before I touch anything else from EA. Sorry, SimCity.

I did my second playthrough on insanity after Leviathan came out, and while I actually liked the orgininal cut of the ending, I have to agree that it's the least replayable game in the series. Wasn't really looking forward to revisiting any part of it apart from the DLC, and I think the extended cut ruins the pacing of the ending by unnecessary cutscenes and exposition, although it's okay in other ways.
Once all the DLC is out, it'll be a lot meatier game, I suspect.
Shepard's story is over and I don't think they'll do anything that occurs after the events of ME3. I just hope they go back in time far enough in the next game so that there's actually something new to experience. ME3's problem is that the world is already too familiar.

ME3 is definitely the least replayable ME game for me. I also did play it twice (once on PS3 and once on 360) but I've played ME2 too.... yet I'd rather go through that and ME1 again.
I think that's why I'm happy to play ME3 DLC. It's new content as opposed to replaying ME3 itself, and I can stick to my current Shepard. It'll be a while before I can stir up the desire to play ME3 proper again - in time I'll start the series over again with a new Shepard who'll actually make paragon choices.

they'll just pick an ending to act as canon. they've done it before with the books, so my guess is they take the ending that leaves things as much the same as possible. Shepherd takes control of the reapers, rebuilds the mass relays and cities around the galaxy, then disappears into dark space. leaves the Mass Effect universe as we know it intact while also providing the possibility of Shepherd to return in some form or another

Speaking of the next Mass Effect.
http://blog.bioware.com/2012/11/12/a...ware-montreal/
Being made at the Montreal studio, Frostbite 2 engine, not much else really.
I *still* hope it's not an MMO.

Honestly? This makes me hope they won't go that route w/Mass Effect. SWTOR was a sinkhole for $, which is too bad because I hear it's actually a pretty good game.

IIRC, SWTOR wasn't a financial disaster, it just failed to meet the WoW-like expectations EA had for it. Last I heard, they had broken even on their development costs just from initial sales of the base game. Any money people spent on monthly fees was mostly profit (less operating costs for servers, bandwidth, customer support, and patch development).

How many copies did they sell? I thought it was reported that the game cost like $150+ million (pretty sure this number is correct).
I'm not sure on the breakdown of profits from computer games (I know it for console games), but I assume like the console games Microsoft gets a cut. Then the retailers get about $20-25 of a $60 sale (this is obviously is different if people bought it digitally).
I'd say they get roughly $30-45 from each sale depending on where people bought it.
They'd need to sell roughly 3.8 million copies to break even.

Microsoft does not get a cut of any game on the PC, nor any XBox game that they don't publish themselves. quite the opposite in fact, you have Microsoft and Sony paying publishers royalties to have things like exclusive titles for a certain period of time, or bonuses in games for a certain platform (like the additional Assassin's Creed 3 missions for the PS3 version). the retailer cut of a game is also way lower than $20, you're looking at maybe $5 per game. retailers make the bulk of their profits from used games, or strategy guides, or warranties
the bulk of a retail sale will go to the publisher, like EA or Activision, with the rest going to the development team
