Disappointed that Whitecloud is part of the return. The Flames need to free up minutes for Parekh and Bruz.

Conroy saying the acquisition will not impact playing time for the younger player. Reading between the lines it tells me they intend to flip him. I also would prefer to get a player like Whitecloud over one of the prospects Vegas has. Too early to tell now, but will be interesting to see if he moves the return that comes back and see what our scouts can do with that.

Parekh isn't NHL ready enough to play every game or big minutes. Way too early to worry about anyone blocking him. Right now it's his own abilities and where he is in development that is blocking him. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in the AHL most of next season for that matter.
Whitecloud's contract comes off the books when Parekh is only 21, so by the time he is ready for the top 4, Whitecloud likely won't be an issue.
For now, when they want to get Parekh into games, Pachal or Hanley are the guys they probably shift over for him.

or they move one of Hanley/Pachal...but the point still stands.

Im still waiting for you to follow up on your claim of this return being worse than they could of got at the last deadline with what it was CC turned down.
Or did you just make that up?

Not a horrible return for a guy we drafted and developed with a 2nd rounder. We need to hit on these picks we get. Also Whitecloud being here is not a bad thing for guys like Brz and Parekh as they need to earn their icetime and depth is nice to have. Now go scouting and make those picks count!

You are suggesting there are at least 62 guys better than that......not likely.
RA is and has been a very very good player (sans last season) but his contract status limited the return. I think overall CC did ok for a rental which he is at this point.
|
Well being an ideal 3rd best D on a contender doesn’t mean there are 62 guy better .
I think he’s somewhere in the 35-50th best D in the league .

If you're this upset by what the Flames got today imagine how upset you'd be by the paltry return he would of got last year. Flames would have been lucky to get a second rounder

It was a sellers market last year. Look at the Brandon Carlo trade.

Seems fine.
Conroy making it clear the no extension impacted offers; so not surprised the return is meh.
We will suck for the next 24 months & hopefully draft some great talent.
It'll be 3-5 years before Conroy's work can really be completely judged.

Whitecloud should not be here long enough to get a jersey pressed.
Conroy should already be contacting all the teams that were interested in Andersson and telling them Whitecloud is available and doesn’t have trade protection

There a part of me that is surprised that Vegas was willing to include Whitecloud.
I known on the surface it's underwhelming from our perspective, but he's a fixture in their top 4.
I thought Vegas was after Andersson to replace Pietrangelo. Instead they paid a 1st and a 2nd to basically upgrade Whitecloud. It's a definite upgrade for them, but how much of an upgrade?

He said there were at least 2 guys better on most teams in the NHL.
31 other teams X 2 = 62.
I was being a bit hyperbolic of course but to make the point that RA is a very good Dman.

Abram Wiebe bloodlines: former NHL dman great uncle Keith Brown
"A prominent factor in Abram’s decision to go all in on hockey was his great-uncle, Keith Brown. Brown played over 15 seasons in the NHL, accumulating more than 800 games throughout his career with the Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers.
Brown was known for his work ethic and toughness he brought to the lineup, something that Abram is trying to replicate as he continues to progress through the Golden Knights pipeline."

I think it's that most of their audience would be watching Barn Burner instead

Funny to compare this deal with the Carlo deal ... I see more than a few similarities between Carlo and Whitecloud. I think they're extremely comparable players.
