Shapo is just warming up on court as I type and TSN3 has the match.

Shapo has to be one of the tour leaders in double faults. He needs to serve better.

He was just a boiling cauldron out there today. Tough to play consistent tennis when you're an emotional wreck on court.

Wow, didn't expect to see Layla bagel her opponent in the 2nd set to close out the match in a 1000 level event. Nice to see.

That was a much needed win for Leylah, she had a good week in doubles recently making it all the way to a challenger final (lost to Bianca and her partner in that final), but good to get a singles win today. Kostyuk is next for Leylah.

Meanwhile, Victoria Mboko is up a double break on Coco and is serving for the opening set at 5-2

Edit: Unlucky net cord for Victoria and an errant backhand and Coco gets one of the breaks back.

Edit 2: Victoria breaks right back to take the opening set 6-3

Also, Bianca leads Donna Vekic 1-5 (Vekic serving) in the opening set of their match.

Edit: Bianca wins the opening set 6-1. Vekic looks all out-of-sorts today to be honest.

Coco takes set 2 6-2 as she played much better and Victoria made a few too many unforced errors. Let's see what set 3 brings, but Victoria has played a fine match up to this point.

Edit: I think the tank was running on empty for Victoria in set 3 as Coco takes set 3 6-1. Still, Victoria took a set from Coco, that's damn impressive.

Bianca advances over #20 seed Donna Vekic 6-1 3-6 6-2. Really good level from Bianca today, she gets Rybakina next so it doesn't get any easier.

She's certainly going through a rough patch. It certainly doesn't help that her grandfather passed away recently either.

I see that Felix has withdrawn from the Italian Open. I hope it's nothing serious, but I didn't like his chances versus Seyboth Wild either.

Felix isn't the only one struggling though - Rublev looks lost, Fritz lost in straight sets to Giron, Tiafoe loses to Sebastian Ofner. I think there are several guys just waiting to get through the French Open and longing for the grass.

We had a little beef at he end of the Fils - Oikos match. Why does umpire Greg Allensworth always bring out the anger in people?

Bianca with a big win just now over Elena Rybakina 6-2 6-4. She might not quite be all the way back, but definitely nice strides in the right direction.

Biggest win in some time for Andreescu, 6-2, 6-4 over Rybakina to advance to round of 16 in Rome. She looks fit

Back-to-back top 20 wins over Vekic and Rybakina (first time she's done that since winning the US Open in 2019).

I think Bianca was running on fumes versus Qinwen Zheng today as it was a weird match (at least the opening se). Zheng get out to a 3-love start, Bianca wins 5 of the next 6 games and then Zheng wins the next three games to take the opening set 7-5. The disappointment of dropping the opening set resulted in Zheng bread-sticking Bianca in set 2. Still, a very good tournament for Bianca, lots of positives to take away from Rome.
