Fell off a cliff is a bit of hyperbole. He was still a point per game player in Sudbury. At that pace over a full season he would have been top 5 D scoring in the OHL

He had 32 pts in Sudbury over 30 games. If he had maintained his pace from Ottawa he would have had 39 pts in 30 games

He's more than a point per game player, higher than his draft year even so pretty great progress for him.

Maybe your expectations were out of whack?

Oh definitely haha I recognize that all of my expectations are out of whack - but it’s fun to be able to dream. That’s what I was referencing with Morin as well.

Got my tickets for the Rangers first round games vs Flint. Hoping that the Soo beats Windsor and the other top seeds win out so I can get Saginaw here in Rd 2.

If Erie sweeps Saginaw, Parekh could be in the lineup for the Flames on April 5.

Doubt that ever happens though.

Pretty crazy that at one point, Mews was ahead of Parekh in points until Parekh went on an absolute heater ...

Parekh's team is getting dummied game 1 of the playoffs. 8-2 so far. Ugly ugly.

Erie goes up 1-0 in the series against Saginaw, with an 8-5 win. Parekh had 2a, and was -2.

According to the game sheet I’m reading, they conceded all eight goals in less than 14 minutes. On home ice. All in the second period. Just one of them on the PK, TWO of them on the PP. Disgusting.

How is that even possible? Must be some kind of record.

Mar.28th:

Kingston goes up 1-0 in their series against Sudbury, with a 4-1 win. Battaglia gets 2a, and was +2.

Mews had 1a, and was -1.

Oshawa goes up 1-0 in their series against Brampton, with a 7-4 win. Misa had 2a for Brampton, and was even, going 11/21 on faceoffs.

Moncton goes up 1-0 in their series against Quebec, but need OT to do it, winning 4-3 in the extra frame. Morin gets 1a, and was +2.

Shawinigan goes up 1-0 in their series against Val D'Or, with a 3-2 victory. Gridin gets 1a, and was +1.

Hitmen go up 1-0 over Saskatoon with a 4-2 win. All zeroes for Hurtig.

Laing gets 1g, and was -1.

Spokane goes up 1-0 on Vancouver, with a 4-1 win. Lipinski gets the lone goal for the Giants, but was -3 (18/28 in faceoffs).

In a huge upset, Seattle beats Everett 3-2, to go up 1-0 in their series. Jamieson was all zeroes, with 3 shots and 2 PIM.

Saginaw has bad goaltending. Saginaw outshot Erie 37-25, yet loses 8-5. Been an issue all season.

Gridin is an interesting case that deserves a closer look. Finishing 12th in the Q sounds pretty good, but he only played 56 games, and was actually 5th in PPG.

He started the season slowly, after switching leagues, posting 10 pts in 11 games. Since then, he has 69 pts in 45 games, a 1.53 PPG pace, which trails only Fauchon, who won the scoring race by 14 pts and finished at 1.61 PPG.

So 12th in the scoring race, but 5th in PPG, and 2nd in PPG, based on his numbers since the beginning of November.

I continue to believe that Gridin is the biggest sleeper in the Flames' prospect pool - much like Suniev was for a while.

Excellent post.

I think he’s a highly underrated prospect, and it seemed like he was picked as one of the nightly three stars an inordinate amount.
Also, leading the USHL in scoring as a 17-yo is no small feat.

Very impressive 4-point (1G, 3A) performance for Gridin
