The upside: Even without Springer, Hernandez being out with Covid, their pitching staff fairly decimated with injuries, multiple batters hitting around or below .100, they are a .500 team. Ryu looks really good. Matz looks great. Bullpen looks great. Our pitching depth is also looking great right now too. Vlad and Bo are an elite combination at the top of the order. Vlad can do the splits?? Semien's defense is very strong, and he makes a noticeable improvement to our infield.

Downside: Our starting pitching continues to be a huge question mark. Moving Roark to the pen is both good and bad. Good because he is not good, but bad because that's a hole in the rotation that has to be filled. The injuries piling up sucks. Forearm tightness for Stripling is pretty worrying. The oblique issue for Merryweather as well, at least it's not his arm. I know the team is trying to get more offensive production from the catching position, and were hoping Kirk would provide that, it's still very early and he did get the HR today, but both him and Jansen have produced very little with their bats. Hoping Jansen can at least get towards .200 with his bat. Lots of small sample size stuff right now though with those two, so can't be too discouraged.

Wildcard: Josh Palacios. Is this guy good?

It is such a relief to see Vlad continue hitting too, and showing great patience at the plate. Hopefully he can tweak the launch angle a touch, and start hitting 110+ mph moon shots into the air.

With all these stupid, ridiculous pitching injuries piling up, I wonder if we see Manoah in the bullpen sooner rather than later. He's 23, not some kid, built like a freaking monster and has elite stuff that appeared F-ing near unhittable in spring training.

Merryweather and Pearson are really starting to piss me off. So frustrating to have elite pitchers with unbelievable stuff always sitting on the IL.

Considering the Jays are not capitalizing on RISP and still have a .500 record is even more impressive. They can only go up if pitching continues to keep them in games.

Let the pitchers use whatever foreign grip substances Trevor Bauer provides them on juiced balls and call it a day.
