So a four-song segment tonight in TO was Grace Too, Greasy Jungle, Scared and Nautical Disaster. Found a Periscope of the show and that bit might be the most intense sounding (not in person) segment possible.

They gave me my poster and the box separate. Told me I had to put it inside. You just may have left it on the table? That sucks....

What happened with me was I asked to buy the cheap one. So he grabbed the 10 dollar one. I asked if it came with a box, he said no, but, the expensive one came with a box. So I said I'd go with that. So he took away the cheap one and came back a minute later with a box and handed me that. I assumed it was inside. I def wasn't handed both, I bought like 3 shirts and a hoodie that were all on the table in front of me.

#### sakes. I called fan attic and he gave me a phone # to try Monday.

Or it might have been Sunfest in Gimli, I can't remember. They were all over the place back then.
Another Roadside was in 93, 95 & 97 followed up by stage 13 in 2002. Those concerts were amazing.

Good article in Macleans today. Cool that they got comments from Peter Garrett about the 93 Roadside tour.

Just came back from 3800 km of driving back and forth across the prairies, with an iPod loaded up with Hip albums. Listened for hours on end, singing along to lots with my wife.

One thing it got me thinking about was the production on the first 4-5 albums. Probably some of it is that I ripped them at higher quality, but Gord's voice has a real raw urgency on a lot of songs and the mix brings it forward. It was the one thing that struck me at the Calgary show I went to was how well mixed it was and how clear the vocals were. Not being drowned out by a ton of low end really allowed the emotion in Gord's singing to come through.

I am really hoping that the show on CBC this weekend has a great audio feed. And it would be even better to see a Blu-Ray released of the tour eventually. Some amazing performances I would listen to over and over.

"The singular importance of the Hip is that they resonate with my friends who teach post-colonial studies as deeply as they touch the right-wing hosers I still hang out with from high school, who drunkenly belt the anthems out in the parking lot after hockey games. Gord sews together the same disparate audiences that are drawn to songwriters like Matt Berninger. The audiences that worship Springsteen. Imagine, though, if Springsteen never broke outside the Mid-Atlantic, and imagine if the Mid-Atlantic had roughly 60 percent as many people and 20 times the geographical area. And imagine if, year after year, Springsteen drilled ever deeper into that terrain."

When I really sit down and think about it, the above quote from the article you linked sums it up for me.

just heard Grace Too on the radio. It has to be one of the more under rated Hip songs, at least based on the amount of air time it seems to get.

I love the Hip and have seen them twice at the Dome and Mac Hall. I will definitely be watching the CBC youtube channel if possible. I wish they were doing a big international tour, it is one of life's greatest mysteries why they never achieved success outside of Canada.

I don't know about Grace, Too being underrated, it seems to get lots of radio play and is a staple of their concerts. My vote would be for So Hard Done By. It is probably my second favourite song of theirs after Locked in the Trunk of a Car but never gets played live or on the radio.

They played "So Hard Done By" at the first concert in the Dome. I'm not sure the last time they played anything from the The Tragically Hip EP in concert - Setlist.FM seems to say 1991

So where is everyone watching/experiencing this event on Sat? I was to have a BBQ but it did not work out. Right now it looks like I will be at the new concert hall at The National Music Centre. A poignant way to first experience that facility I figure.

Wherever you are enjoy it, everyone.

Do you have your tickets already? Their website says it's sold out.

I'm sure the concert will be all over the internets after the fact, right? I don't know if I will be able to watch live and CBC said they are not going to re-air it or put it up on their website after the fact.

Family camping trip. Watching from my phone if there is wifi or good cel reception. Otherwise I've PVR'd it. Thought about having my co-worker call me with a work emergency so I could drive back into town and watch at home with no distractions, but my wife would see right through that.
