apologizes for the long story...

i had to rma my original phone. received the notice that my rma replacement phone shipped and i was tracking it. it never moved from california. i was always tracking it from my order status page on the oneplus website.

about 1 1/2 weeks later (oct. 20) i sent oneplus a message asking what was up as the tracking hadn't updated. i also emailed dhl to inquire and they replied the next day saying that it was simply the shipping label that was created, nothing more. typical slow response 5 days later (oct 25) from oneplus, they said my problem was solved without any other information. replied again asking where the phone was and after another week of waiting (nov 4), they suddenly give me a new tracking number that said it was delivered. this "new" tracking number was also suddenly updated on my order status page.

the new tracking is weird as it showed it was delivered oct. 14 at a time i know both my wife and i were home, but obviously we don't have a package. more slow response from oneplus and following up with dhl, now it's too far back to track. which is fair, i know i wouldn't know where i delivered a package over 3 1/2 weeks ago.

the suspicious part of the "new" tracking number is that it shows that signature wasn't required on the package and was supposedly left at the door. the nice lady at dhl even told me that it seemed really odd as there were duty, taxes, & fees owing. she said that their drivers would not leave a package with fees owing at the door. in fact most shipping companies will not release, let alone leave a package that has fees owing.

so dhl is now saying it's lost and they'll contact the shipper, etc, but the reality is i haven't had my phone since oct. 3 when i sent it back to hong kong. obviously dhl is at fault too, but if the support from oneplus wasn't so useless and slow, we might have been able to trace it much sooner...or perhaps oneplus could have given me the correct tracking number from the start....or perhaps oneplus could have done something and tried to find out where the package went, but all they do is tell you to contact dhl and file a complaint.

so now i'm out the $349 us + fees and don't have a phone to show for it. even better is that dhl's accounts receivable contacted me today asking me to pay the fees owing on a package they have deemed lost.

Yikes. Sorry to hear about that.

I sent my phone back yesterday. OnePlus arranged for TNT to pickup and everything. They're paying the bill for shipping and even refunding me the original shipping costs when the phone was sent to me.

I plan on posting my full experience, once I receive my refund.

the actual whole tnt process was pain free i will admit....and it only took a week to get to hong kong too which was cool. so if would have actually received my replacement, it would have only been a 2 week turnaround which i think is really good.

The only issue with my whole Oneplus experience was DHL. Incompetent uncaring POS company. I've heard they will now ship USPS/Canada post for us, so that's a bonus.
Slower, more expensive but more reliable.

Its so if the claim happens and it falls through, you still have more days to give them away. I've had lots of people claim but not actually buy, the invite then reverts to the person who gave it away so it can be used.
