A side of me says keep Monahan up, but the other side of me says the Flames need to send him down and the gut feeling says to send him down this year all for the purpose of rebuilding for the next two years. Think long term and look towards the year Connor McDavid becomes eligible for the draft. Imagine if the Flames can land someone similar to a Crosby!

Ya totally agree. Let's put our best prospect's development on hold for the purpose of losing with the intent to be last place 2 years from now and have a 25% chance (at best...or worst) to draft Conner McDavid, who is currently 16 years old. It's an idea so good, it's ######ed...

I would be mad if I was Monahan and I got sent down.
Let the kid play. He is a Calder contender

IF I had any influence over the decision to send Monohan down, what I'd be asking is the following:
What areas of the game does he need to get better in?
And the obvious follow-up:
Can he get significantly better at those areas while playing in Junior?
If the answer to the second question is yes, I'd vote to send him down. If it's no, I'd obviously want to keep him up.
My heart wants him to stay with the big club and become our Jonathan Toews.

Even if he was sent down, this year will have been an awesome development year for Monahan. He had a full prospects tournament, NHL training camp, NHL pre-season and 9 NHL games. If he participates with the World Juniors, that will be an excellent opportunity as well. If he can take a junior team to a Memorial Cup that will also be a good experience. I'm on the fence on him staying/going down, but its not like going down will damage him.

I think the only reason you send him down at this point is if there were concerns with his conditioning, size or game study/ prep habits.
I'm not sure there is much else he could work on in Jr.
From all accounts, there are no issues with either of those things.

Had 2 more good chances to score again tonight. He's still learning but he belongs in the NHL. Keep him up.

If we have a true meritocracy as Feaster has expressed in the past, the Monahan stays. It would remove any legitimacy from Feaster when he says you'll get a chance if you are the better player regardless of age. He's been one of, if not the best and most dangerous forward on the team despite only being 19 and he is getting better each game on top of it. It's not like he had a burst like Hertl at the start and then struggled.

Rookie move by Monahan there, putting his blade in backwards on his Z-bubble, putting the words all upside down.
