They could put SOB on waivers. What, one can dream right?

Breen won't have any problem passing through waivers. If he does, likely we can grab him when he goes on again after it doesn't work for whatever team risked grabbing him. He's an AHLer. A better one lately, but I don't see an NHL upside, I just don't.

I dunno..
Urbom didn't pass through waivers. I'd say they are pretty comparable.
I wouldn't risk it, plus with the praise Wiesbrod gave him in the offseason and the size he brings to the table there is no reason to risk losing him when Smith is the obvious choice for now.
The Flames are not in the business of losing assets for nothing..

When fully healthy O'Brien is the 7th best option we got on the backend. Until the youngsters are ready O'Brien is the best option. Smith can't seem to establish himself and Breen and Sieloff are fighting injury..
However I do agree because O'Brien isn't part of the ideal top-6 I envision for this team.... but we may need his bigger salary on the books for next season..

I just wish the guy could stay F'n healthy for more than 5 minutes, so we can get an extended look at him finally.

Slightly OT, but Hamilton released Akim Aliu from a PTO. He reportedly had a very good training camp, but his play dropped off. Had 4 pts in 14 games.

Hopefully someone else will be around tonight and tomorrow to give updates for the game. I've got myself a date with Mr. Matthew F.R. Good in the front row for both nights so I'm unfortunately not able to listen and update during the game.
Go HEAT!

24 years old, 6'7", a grand total of 19 minutes of ice-time in the NHL.
And that came post-injury, having missed all of camp.
Very impressive player assessment on your part.

Yes, he is on the 2nd line. Will be his second game. He scored a goal during his first game with OKC on Tuesday.

Can someone please explain to me how a team that has finished:
25th
19th
21st
30th
30th
29th, and
24th
over the last 7 years can have not only a lousy team, but also a lousy farm team, and the worst team at this year's prospects tourney?
How is that ****ing possible?

1. Their best young players are in the NHL or in junior.
2. Their drafting outside the top round or two hasn't been great.

Hopefully Abby can light Bryzgalov up. That would be entertaining.

It was rhetorical
But the fact that several of their best prospects are in junior wasn't exactly on display at the prospects tourney. They were completely impotent.

Bryzgalov and the 29th place Oiler rejects.
Baby Flames shouldn't have a problem with this one.

I was walking to my car, coming out of the Penticton Arena after we beat on the Oilers and this depressed Oiler couple approached me and offered their tickets to me for the rest of the tourney. I told them, despite my BC plates I wasn't a local and wasn't going to all the games. He got a little angry that I turned down his offer, so I was thinking of asking him if they have thought of doing a re-build, but I felt pity. Yeah, cool story I know, but I'm thinking that the Oiler faithful are getting a little fed up.
