I love watching Texas HS highlights. The stadiums all look like college stadiums and you can't tell if it is a big high school in Plano or some tiny Panhandle town!

Of course it doesn't mean he'll be a sure thing. Hell Garret Gilbert won not only the football award, but the overall. However, for every Gilbert and Brantley there's a Peyton Manning and an Emmit Smith.
And Brantley cursed himself when he withdrew his commit from Texas.

I find the national championship a bit of a joke.
LSU playing Alambama who they have already beat even though it was a close 9-6 in ot. So if LSU loses then what. They beat Alabama once and Alabama beat them once.
This will solve nothing if Alabama wins.
It should be same record 11-1 Oklahoma State regardless of their loss to unranked Iowa State.
or
Same record 11-1 Stanford who lost to #7 Oregon but the Ducks also lost to LSU early int he season.
Bottom line LSU imo should be playing a unseen opponent OK State or Stanford.
Then you have the SEC being won by LSU over Alabama.
LSU vs Alabama is not the right game.
Alabama had their chance they shouldn't get a second. LSU has all the pressure on them meanwhile Alabama has Zero pressure. If they lose so what they lose.
I'm not a LSU fan but i don't like it.

Not only that..but in this scenario LSU would have won in Tuscaloosa while Bama would win at a neutral site....which win should carry the bigger weight? We all know the answer but no question in my mind that Bama would be given the title....because the NC is a playoff game....hmmm.

It's a shame how many schools allowed a golden opportunity to be in the NC game slip through their fingers by losing bad games.

So we should ignore the fact that OSU lost to a garbage team and give them a shot at the title? Why? They lost to a garbage team.
We should also ignore that Stanford got crushed by Oregon and put them in the title game? And they get there over the team that crushed them because Oregon lost to LSU previously? Well that seems like a great idea. No way that will result in teams refusing to schedule a contender in a non-conference game ever again. I mean we all love those games against SW Missouri State so why not encourage more of them, right?
How about this, let's ignore that Michigan got thumped in East Lansing and didn't show up at Iowa and put them in the title game. I mean why not? We're just ignoring losses here anyways.

Stanford shouldn't be there because they didn't win their conference. Same goes for Bama. I just can't believe the fact that people aren't making a bigger deal over the fact that losing to LSU actually made things easier for Bama.

I don't disagree with the conference winner rule, but that's not in existence so it comes down to who has the best resume out there and of the 2 I say Bama takes it easily.

yes he did, I don't blame him for going where he is a legacy but he totally screwed himself going to play for Urban Meyer.

and then split national champs cause AP will still vote LSU. Whatever, this is getting to be a boring topic.
Thoughts on Heisman candidates and those left of the list?
Richardson
Ball
Mathieu
Griffin III
Luck
Left off: Case Keenum, Kellen Moore, Matt Barkley to name a few
I think Richardson will win although I'm pulling for Griffin III

Huh? What does that have to do with anything? You could institute a 64 team playoff and still have the exact same result if both polls aren't tied to the winner of a particular game.
I don't see any way that Richardson doesn't win.

Not even meant for an arguement. Doesn't have anything to do with anything, just making a comment.
ESPN experts on their heisman watch have Griffin ahead of Richardson slightly. Could be closer then people think.

If you look at the loss then yeah sure. If you look at the whole thing then OK State wins hands down.
OK State beat 3 ranked teams (#8 Kansas State, #12 Baylor, # 14 Oklahoma) to Bama's 2 (#6 Arkansas, #22 Penn State).
OK State has 7 wins aginst division 1 opponents with winning records (Lousiana-Lafayette, Tulsa, Texas, Mizzou, Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma) to Bama's 3 (Penn State, Arkansas, Auburn)
OK State strength of schedule was 6 while Bama's was 23.
OK State opponents record was (73-52), Bama's was (63-49)
And then you have the fact that you know...Bama already lost to LSU...at home.
But Bama passes the eyeball test (which can replace resume when talking about the SEC)

Man that all looks good ... and then you have the fact that they lost to an unranked 6-6 team.
So while the rest is close, and maybe a bit better for OK State, the loss is atrocious, and therefore they're not in. Next time don't lose to a horrible team.

Can we change the thread title to "SEC and some other teams that play college football"?

Yep, like Nik said you can trot all that out and get me to go 'well, look a tthat I guess OSU should be there'. Then I'd ask 'btw, who did they lose to?' and I spit my water across the room.

Yeah and i prefaced the post by saying that. However, I was responding to someone who said "it comes down to who has the best resume out there and of the 2 I say Bama takes it easily" which is definitely not true.

Let me get this straight, you're telling me that my assessment of two teams resumes "is definitely not true". How is that possible? It's MY assessment.
