What a waste of a comeback. Managers too often fall in love with their closers. It's obvious that they can see that Romano can't grip the ball.

I don't understand, if you have a challenge you should only be able to challenge one base not both.

unfortunately the rule allows for as many challenges (reviewable plays) as you want on a single play, and you get to retain the challenge as long as any are correct

Thanks for that, Romano. Just selfish on your part and stupid on managanements end. Dumb stuff when we worked so hard to get back in it. What a statement game this would have been heading into playoffs.

I mean, if they had to choose 1, they were definitely picking first base there.

That really hurts, lose the game, use tons of pitchers in doing so. Crap.

Yeah without a doubt but as the other poster pointed out I guess you can challenge multiple calls within the same play.

Inexcusable to be honest and it’s par for the course this season.

Romano and his finger was actually fine after the first two batters and it "warmed up", but the issue was those first two batters. He should've never gone in.
That said the first hit barely squeaked in the first base line, as did the last one on the third base line.
If Vladdy could've caught that ball a foot closer, that would've been a DP.

The choice needed to be taken out of Romano’s hand…no pun intended.
He was completely awful and didn’t seem right at all.
Romano wasn’t going to easily come out of the game but that was pure ego.

I don’t even blame Romano. He is a gamer and won’t want to be taken out. This is 100% on the manager. You’re the boss, act like it.

It was not right in the bullpen either.

Not even mad as the Rays started off with the top of the order coming up in the ninth. Diaz beat Romano and then it was a few more bloops with the Rays best hitters.
Let's talk about how the Jays didn't get him more insurance runs with the bases loaded...
