Were you just filling in the list with bad movies that also happened to come out? ST3, Temple of Doom, Friday the 13th part 4 aren’t really the cream of the crop here.

Friday the 13th part 4 is great, one of the best slashers and one of the best Friday the 13th films.

People forget he started as a dramatic actor (i.e. Amistad, A Time to Kill, etc...) before entering rom-com mode.
By the time Interstellar arrived, he was fresh off True Detective (amazing), Mud (underrated), Wolf of Wall Street (cameo), and Dallas Buyers Club. Interstellar was peak-McConaissance

But the main point of the movie is subversion, in this case convincing (incepting) Westerners to give up their nations and children's birthright. Very clever meta technique.

I really liked that movie. Highly recommend.
Also it makes fun of dumb-ass Corporate White people which seemingly never gets old.

The layers of satire in that movie were just exceptional. I was laughing so much, and even with like 10 minutes left in the movie there was still more satire being revealed. Truly a fantastic film.

Oh it was so good. I'm really disappointed that they didnt market the hell out of it. I cant remember the last film that made me laugh like that.
So good! Even just thinking back to Jeffrey Wright's facial expressions when the White people were being White people absolutely slays me.
You can see the look in his eyes that 'these must be the dumbest people on Earth' but he just keeps going.
Its brilliant.

All this talk about Interstellar encouraged me to finally watch it.
Holy crap, that's like...a near perfect movie. Can't believe I slept on it for a decade. Thanks for the recommendation(s).

Maybe I need to watch it again. I just remember seeing it the first time and feeling ... I don't know ... 'whelmed'?

I similarly thought it didn’t really live up to it’s pre-release hype.

Yeah I might need to see it again too. I thought it was fine but far from great. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood or just missed something. IMO it's not even the best space movie of that year (or.... close to that year?) I can re-watch The Martian once a season

Yeah I just really have to find a night to chill, sit down, and get into it. I'm sure I'll love it when I do actually give it a real go

Go watch that Tik Tok video of the drone screwing in a light bulb as "No time for caution" plays. A masterpiece.

The music was fantastic, I'll definitely say that much. I mean, Zimmer, no surprise there, but hot damn

It definitely needs multiple viewings. You catch something new each time and just understand the timelines and such better.
It wasn't until my 3rd or 4th watch that I really started to feel it's my favorite movie of all time. Everything about it is great. Including the score- which might be the ultimate focus and listen soundtrack out there.
The docking scene with Hans Zimmer's - "No Time for Caution". oh man it's a thing of beauty
Edit: Bigtime: Screw Tik Tok, just watch the real scene

I don't know. I think its different for everyone. Definitely a mood movie. I just happened to be in the right one and I could have totally been in the wrong one for it. I almost compare it in my own head more to About a Boy or Cast Away (which I think kinda sucked) than 2001. I ugly cried at Interstellar. More about regret and family and squandered life.
