Imagine what the Jackets players were thinking...

After the raw emotions of the beautiful, but sad, but also uplifting celebration of Johnny and Matthew, they head up the highway and have to watch these self-indulgent narcissists parade McDavid's dog onto the ice, and watch as Draisaitl feeds it a silver bone.

I cannot imagine that there is a more clueless and self-indulgent collection of miscreants anywhere in professional sports.

Just watched the video. I have to say that Leonard was the cutest thing there. Over the top for sure.

If you put a jersey on Lenard I bet he outscores Hyman and the rest of the wrinklies.

Feeling the urge to get blocked by the oilers media on Twitter by ripping them for their stupid ceremony (especially the timing of it) and bench clearing celebrations for a ####ing stats line.

The kids glove treatment of McDavid to stay in his good graces going into the contact negotiation period is really pathetic.

Trading a defenceman for a forward?

Done and done.

On brand.

Bakersfield's top scoring defenceman for Laval's lowest-scoring skater.

But hey, maybe he's the Best AHL Player without a point!

Apart from it being a d-man for forward swap - which is so on-brand for the Oilers it’s almost not funny anymore (but in this case it still is) - it’s also a case of the Oilers seeing the shiny “first round pick” next to a players name and trading for him without actually looking into his performance or doing any real research on him. 1st rounder = good, right?

Oh man .. Spector with a throw ex Oilers staffers under the bus article on Broberg and Holloway.

In the end, the Oilers never knew what they had in Broberg. That’s mostly on Woodcroft and his staff, and also on Holland, whose reputation is to give his coach the players and not get overly involved in how they are deployed.

Holland allowed his coach to alienate an excellent young prospect, and by the time Kris Knoblauch and Paul Coffey figured out that the kid could play, he had one foot out the door.
Ex coaches and management were at fault.

Current coaches and management are geniuses but they didn't have enough time.

You may (or may not) be saying this half in jest, but I have had that impression for a long time with respect to Oilers scouting staff and organizational player assessment.

They very much seem to like big names, 1st round picks, etc. It never seems to be about what the team needs, but always about the shiniest toy, the brightest headliner, when it comes to acquiring players for them.

Recent signings: Perry, Arvidsson and Skinner
Recent trades: Podkolzin, Perrault, Savoie, Kapanen (waiver pickup)

as the most recent examples, but their moves always seem to have that flavour. It's like they don't even have any player evaluators, they just go by name recognition.

A really bad article even for Edmonton media. He's working SO hard to excuse current management. Including that even though the Oilers had plenty of time to sign both player after the season, but chose to sign others instead, it isn't there fault because they probably knew the offer sheets were coming.

Assumptions layered on top of assumptions to excuse them.

What a weird market when it comes to their media. And always has been.

They made a dumb trade of their 2025 1st just to get the last pick in the first round in 2024. Having previously traded away the 2024 31st OA in an even dumber trade for Sam Carrick (LOL).
