Endorsing Desantis, and possibly signing on as his running mate would be an unexpectedly cunning move. It would be a best case scenario for the rnc and they could offer to help with his legal and financial woes and possible pardons from Desantis if he wins. I don’t really think it will happen, because Trump is not really rational and has way too much of an ego, but it would be quite the move.

This is actually a smart idea for Trump...
So obviously he won't do it and we can all rest at ease knowing that he's a ####ing idiot wannabe mob boss.
Besides, DeSantis is too smart to hitch his wagon to Trump at this point.

His ego would never allow him to be number 2.

It would also be a terrible idea for DeSantis once he gets into office (if he were to win), can you even imagine trying to keep a VP Trump in line? Nightmare.

The Trump-Desantis polls coming out the last few weeks have had a huge swing to Desantis. The first time I can remember where widespread polling has Trump way to anyone amongst Republican voters. People are finally seeing that he is a loser.
I still think DeSantis sits this one out. There's too much chaos right now, and also going against an incumbent is not easy. He's only 44, he has time to get even more popular, especially if Trump or whoever loses badly in 2024. 2028 would be an open slate. DeSantis against who?

A few things:
- A lot can change in six years. DeSantis is beloved now. Six years, a few scandals later, and he could have no chance. He can win now.
- Biden is a weak incumbent, the Dems could be running a much stronger candidate in 2028.
- You are assuming if Trump wins in 2024 that there will be an election in 2028 and not him appointing Ivanka, Don Jr, Barron, or Jared as his successor when he dies. Because as much as we think Trump can't win in 2024, he quite obviously can. And then what?

Trump winning in 2024 is a long shot and no election in 2028 is an even longer impossible shot.
Even if Trump wins in 2024, 2028 is still an open election. Trump, even as President, has no successor that can be as popular and experienced as DeSantis.
And I guess only DeSantis knows if he has scandals or not.

There is enough post 2020 election data to show that Trump's support has taken a big hit. The GOP will do anything they can to make sure Desantis or another strong challenger can be the nominee, as long as they think that person can actually beat Trump in the primaries. The polls of the last month are definitely showing that Desantis would be the favorite.
Running Trump again in 2024 would be a disaster for the GOP turnout for everyone on the ballot.
I hope he grifts all the mouth breathers out of their money frankly. If people don't see what a con man he is, they might as well give their money to him as well
thought he'd just give his action dolls a superhero update:
but that obviously wouldn't be enough grift, and given that there's surely enough gullible cultists out there, the narcissist card thing isn't all that surprising.
