I'm pretty sure that is an actual play in their playbook.

Now I finally understand what the "bomb" part of the moniker means.

It's not the shot.. it's in his own end!

DeBrusk is brilliant. I clearly didn't give him enough credit.

It’s nice that CHED now releases overtime in podcast format.

Nice backcheck by McDavid, too. He's really leading by example.

Having no expectations while seeing Edmonton struggle with "cup or bust" expectations is pretty great.

At least we're rational about the team's ceiling.

It must be hell up there trying to grapple with the fact that you have two of the best on the planet but still can't compete.

They can't afford to miss the playoffs so the longer they're in the basement the more pressure there's going to be to trade a ton of picks another winger. How they're going to add help with their cap situation is unclear though.

It's still early ...

But with a 2-6-1 start they'll need to play at a .651 pace to get to 100 points, with 100 being the norm for divisional playoff spots.

They're likely already staring down not having home ice in the first round as an upside.

making the playoffs after starting beneath .500 after the first ten games is uncommon.

It's crazy to think that a ten game segment can so alter an 82 game season but loser points make it really hard to gain ground once a team falls behind.

Losing in bunches in regulation is what cripples a season.

Scraping up loser points when you're struggling is essential to staying in the picture.

We malign last years Flames for not converting on 17 OTs, but keeping games close at the same time is what kept them in the race.

This year they're just bad-bad.

There is nothing worse then being a bench warmer on a losing team.
