Ok, but Santander out and who you replace him with are 2 separate decisions.
If Santander was healthy he plays, fair enough. But once he's out you need to replace him with either Schneider, Straw or IKF. IKF would have been my last choice out of the 3.

Infield best defense: IKF; Barger; Schneider.
Best pinch bat: Schneider, IKF, Straw.
Based on that, I can see why Schneider starts on the bench.

Schneider is also a better hitter than IKF and Straw in the starting lineup, and at bats early in the game count too.
Edited to add: may be academic - if they can get Bo back then he'll presumably DH, and Springer will take Santander's spot in the OF, at least initially.

The most important game of the series. Either you tie it, or you force yourself to have to sweep the Mariners on the remaining 3 games to make it to the WS. I would prefer the former please. Put those shoe-on-top-of-head fans back home crying again for a second consecutive night.

I'm not a Loperfido guy but perhaps it'll be a boost considering Santander wasn't doing much. Gotta think there isn't much scouting or focus on Loperfido, enough to surprise them.
