Driving is so inefficient. Definitely a literal gear grinder!
-The lane is closed for something you aren't noticing. Paint drying, concrete curing, debris on the road or the shoulder, etc

-Closure is scheduled for a certain time of day, but there are other closures also scheduled for that time, so some may have to be set up early so crews can get to all of them before the clients need them

-Contractor doesn't show up, or shows up late, or leaves early but doesn't tell the city so they still get the closure they paid for at the scheduled times

-It's a contractor or third party doing their own closure, and absolutely abusing their permit because they're a contractor and know the city will get blamed, so don't give a ####. See most closures downtown for example. Doesn't help that it's a job with more work than people to do it, on top of being one of the most dangerous jobs in Canada, so currently it's a race to the bottom with how many new traffic contractors specializing in closures are out there just throwing underpaid and undertrained staff at jobs

The last two being the most common, I know it sounds easy enough to deal with but then keep in mind there can be 500 such closures a day between May and October.

Of course all the reasoning and justification doesn't make it any less frustrating, that's for sure

At least it's only in one direction.

I know you have not asked for this advice but I would be starting to go on the offensive here.

Step 1, better business bureau reviews. In my experience these really kick start action, unless these literally are the worst companies on earth, which is possible.

Step 2, call and indicate legal action is forthcoming. Review your contracts to ensure you understand their obligations. Water coming through a window that can cause damages? Yea, I'm going to say that's a legit cause for claim. Be crystal clear you are not putting up with this BS any longer. Give deadlines. Your deadlines.

Step 3, prepare a letter if no resolution based on above points. Make sure to include further deadlines, reference all previous efforts so that it's documented and ready to be reviewed in court. Make sure the letter reads well and no spelling issues, etc.

Be firm / remain calm and courteous / professional but be as assertive as possible. On calls, ask to speak to supervisors / managers if you are not getting clear answers.

Some moron still really wants to be me, trying to hack my CP account. Good effort, dumbass. Keep at it, one day you'll make all your time spent guessing Password1 over and over, and you can be me for a day. Won't that be wonderful?

e-bike riders grind my gears.
get off the sidewalks you dangerous asshats. I wish they'd crack down on them.

Although other than kids, I usually hate all cyclists on sidewalk. just seems worse with e-bikes.

I watched someone take a header the other morning in the cycle track. No helmet, of course. She looked like she was in a lot of pain.

Ontario referees will be outfitted with body cameras this summer in an effort to stop aggressive abuse at soccer games across the province.
"Last year we had a 16-year-old female official assaulted in a parking lot by angry parents," Johnny Misley, president of Ontario Soccer, said on Monday.
"We had a player in an adult recreation game last year thrown out of the game only to go to their car and pull a machete out of their trunk and chase the referee around the field."

I've been using my bicycle a lot this spring already and I swear there's more people out and about on e-bikes and e-scooters than there are regular ones these days.

I don't have a problem with them per se, but if the sidewalk is busy with pedestrians don't ####ing speed down and get mad when I don't or can't move.

Right up there with nails on a chalkboard I can't stand people who scrape their spoon around a bowl to scoop out every last bit of food in there. It is so ####ing annoying. The guy in the office beside me just spent 5 minutes scraping his bowl of yogurt or oatmeal or whatever. Put down the spoon and just lick the bowl clean so that I don't have to listen to this.
