It's been a running joke on the podcast that every fanbase thinks he hates their team.
I think the bias falls more on the fanbases than Pronman. I don't always agree with all his takes, but he comes across very humble on the Atheltic podcast, something that doesn't always translate into his writing.
If I’m not mistaken, he has taken considerable heat from Montreal’s fan base over the years.
Honestly, it’s just one guy’s view. If the fans here need some more positive reinforcement maybe we can convince Derek Wills to write up a league wide prospect ranking.
If you go back to CC appearance on Barnburner after the trade he said they knew they would be trading Lindholm after their first conversation in September or before camp. That tells me the ask was high and the parties were never going to make a deal. The signing speculation through out the season was just media speak to make sure he could get the best deal.
Yeah sure, that's possible. But users are saying its fact. No its not fact. Its all speculation.
All we do know is that the Flames made some attempt to keep Lindholm and Lindholm made some attempt to stay, but they (obviously) never agreed.
Of course his focus is to win in Edmonton. He is currently an Edmonton Oiler.
He wants to win, though, more than anything is what he said. With no prospects in the pipeline and one of the oldest teams in the NHL, I can't see how his best chance to win will be in Edmonton.
If he wants to win, he should sign with a team with lots of emerging young talent.
I think he is leaving. He said he is taking it slow, which is an indication he won't be signed before the start of the season and is likely the answer his is going to be giving all season. What he didn't say was that negotiations were going well and that they are getting closer.

I agree part of that will be how long he sees their window to compete really being. Them not addressing goaltending is a strike against them.

This is probably not far off when you consider his value to Katz and the organization. I imagine any delays are due to the Oilers badly wanting to ink him to a max term deal and he's not on board with it.
He doesn't want distractions but the Edmonton media are going to be asking every single night if he's signing soon. Perhaps the distractions bit suggests it will be outstanding through the season.
The absolute best way to turn something into a distraction is saying "I don't want this to be a distraction".
If you are the best player on your team heading for free agency next summer and you're in no rush to sign an extension.... you're creating a distraction.

Draisaitl is begging him to stay and putting pressure on him to sign long term but he doesn't want that. It might work and he might sign a two year deal to try and help his friend run a Cup but if he does I don't expect it until he sees how this year unfolds. I don't expect a contact to be even discussed until after the season is over. Here is how I see it right now, if the Oilers win the Cup this year he is 100% gone. If the Oilers don't get to at least the West finals he is also gone. If they make the finals and lose yet again or lose in the West finals in a close series I can see Drai suckering him into staying a few more years. I can say with certainty if him and Draisaitl were not so close this wouldn't even be a discussion on if he leaves or not.

I don't believe he's going to sign 8 years in Edmonton. No way. He will want to have an out.
